"Some of the video is surveillance from inside a bar in the St-Roch district, showing officers taking issue with people dancing onstage, against COVID-19 rules.

A 36-year-old man, there to celebrate a birthday with his spouse, was shoved, and a second video shot outside shows officers carrying him and shoving his head against a wall, where the skin split and bled, according to the interview the man and his spouse gave Le Journal."

"QUEBEC CITY -- A video circulating on social media allegedly shows Quebec City (SPVQ) police violently arresting a young Black teen.

In the video, a police officer is seen using his boot to jam snow in the teen's face as other officers pin him face down on the ground.

The force says it has "been made aware of a video" circulating concerning the arrest, which took place "during the night of Nov. 26 to 27."

Quebec City police released a statement Sunday saying it has reviewed the video and the behaviour of the officers involved "is of great concern to management."

"As soon as we were informed, the SPVQ consulted the video and took all the necessary measures," the release states. "The professional standards department was notified.""

There are a small percentage of racist assholes in every profession.

Unfortunately when they are in law enforcement they always get more attention.

It's a somewhat larger percentage in this region, and the incidents have been largely on the rise due to the unprecedent powers given to the police during the health emergency.

Also ACAB #defund #defund!!!

There are bad people in EVERY profession. EVERY. SINGLE. PROFESSION. I personally think there are fewer bad apples in that profession than there are in our profession. Governments can't afford to have too many bad apples. I'm not just talking about economic cost thought that is a component.

Not to defend, merely explain; a number of years ago (early 1970's) there was an experiment done. The Stanford Prison Experiment.
https://www.simplypsychology.org/zimbardo.html">https://www.simplypsychology.org/zimbardo.html  To give you an indication how horrible we are, the experiment was to last 2 weeks but was stopped after 6 days because things were going WAY too far sideways.

Bottom line, as a species, we're pretty screwed up. We will do horrible things to each other in the right circumstances.
QuoteAccording to Zimbardo and his colleagues, the Stanford Prison Experiment revealed how people will readily conform to the social roles they are expected to play, especially if the roles are as strongly stereotyped as those of the prison guards.

Because the guards were placed in a position of authority, they began to act in ways they would not usually behave in their normal lives.
(emphasis mine)

Law Enforcement (in relatively free nations anyway) have been put in an awful position. They have been delegated authorities by people WE elected and CONTIUNE to elect. These elected people do one thing while in office; exert more power over those that they've been given charge. As they accumulate power they for obvious reasons have to delegate that power. You know damn well those smug piles of bovine excrement would NEVER personally enforce the diktats they mete out. They would not last a day. Imagine Nancy Pelosi showing up at my house... There's no way that old hag is leaving with anything less than a fat lip and a shiner.

These people NEVER relinquish power, they only gather more. At some point, somethings got to give. Only you know where that line is.

...until YOU need them to protect YOU.
Then you will be pretty happy they are armed.

You say it's a higher percentage, but my assertion is that it could be simply the PERCEPTION of a higher percentage because of the amount of media attention these cases always get.

Real data on the actual number of encounters with ALL police compared to how many cases end with police crossing the line will likely show it is still a small percentage that may be blown out of proportion.

It's a big problem, one incident is a big problem, there need to be consequences for overstepping or it's becomes the norm.

They are never around when you need them, let Canadians carry and conceal. Much better alternative.

With covid videos like this became a daily thing, as they hide from prosecution behind the health act.

These are thugs working for the crooked, prescription drug cartel funded government, nothing more.

They have to go.

In the US, there are roughly 300,000,000 police encounters per year... yes, that's three hundred million.

No matter how perfect any system is, undesirable outcomes WILL happen when you have 300,000,000 chances with ANYTHING. Not excusing it, certainly condoning it, just pointing out statistical probabilities.

Air travel is an extraordinarily safe mode of travel... still people die every year.

Doctor's mistakes... those guys... they kill in a good year 250,000 people. Some estimates range to 400,000 per year. I don't hear people clamoring for doctors to wear body cameras, defund the doctors, ADAB, etc...
