Lifetimes: Dave Thomson

There was barely a moment in Dave Thomson's life that he didn't fill with accomplishments. Running his own tech company, mentoring young staff, learning new recipes, playing music, canoe tripping, coaching and playing hockey, he did it all.

Though he was only 48 when he died of a heart attack on Feb. 28, 2021, Dave's bucket list was already overflowing.

"He had a fascination with life — he was always trying and testing new things," said his wife and high school sweetheart, Jodi Spall. "He learned to be a mixologist, a cook, and it was all self-taught."

"He put 110 per cent into everything he did," said Chris McIntosh, vice-president of development and operations at Postability, the tech company Dave founded in 2008. The Cambridge-based firm specializes in bespoke software for computer-controlled machine tools. Jodi has taken over running the company since her husband passed.

"He was a great boss and mentor," added Chris. "He cared so much about everybody else."

I thought it was odd the way other company names weren't mentioned.

I still get sad when I think of Dave and what a tragedy this was. . He accomplished more in 48 years then most of us would in few lifetimes....
