How much of a climate change emergency is it really? 2 stories somewhat related.

Story#1

https://www.wind-watch.org/news/2021/10/04/an-ameren-wind-farm-isnt-running-at-night-to-save-bats-should-customers-pay-for-that/

QuoteThree years ago, the largest electric utility in the state, Ameren Corp., pitched a brand new wind farm with hundreds of turbines in the hills of northern Missouri. But the area, just north of Kirksville, was also home to eagle nests and endangered bat colonies, the state said. Scientists warned Ameren the turbines would kill some.

Now Ameren is before state regulators hoping to raise electricity rates across Missouri, and it's run into a sticking point: The turbines at its High Prairie Renewable Energy Center have indeed killed a few bats and at least one eagle recently, forcing the company to idle the wind farm overnight for the last several months.

story#2
I was touring an old grain mill in a state park in southern Missouri last fall. The tour guide noted the odd smell of the old structure and asked if we knew what the smell was. The smell was bat fecies. He noted that the mill had a population of endangered Indiana Bats. When  a young child asked where the bats were because none of us could see them, he said, interesting question! a rather large Black Snake had gotten in there and started eating them this summer, and he said that the black snake is still here somewhere. I marveled at the fact that they had not killed that snake since Indiana bats are so endangered and black snakes are a dime a dozen here in Missouri. but he said the snake was allowed to eat those bats because it was considered natural predation.

So they allowed a black snake to eat a bat that caused a multi-billion dollar wind farm to shut down at night.  Now contrast the steps taken to combat the emergency that is Ukraine right now, with how the EPA handled the windfarm problem.
