The insurance companies will still quibble with each other over the damages, but you should be covered for repair or replacement value of your vehicle, plus the cost of a rental for you until they get it sorted out.

My wife was a hit and run so we'll be be paying $500 uninsured motorist and the $500 deductible
Insurance pays $25 a day for 30 days rental.
All $25/day gets you here is a Smart car. 
I upgraded mrs gcode's rental to a Honda CR-V for an additional $15/day.
I'll be surprised if they can get her car fixed in 30 days
Best case, we'll be out a couple of grand... worst case we'll be buying a new car

Going to work this morning on a hilly country road a woman driving too fast hit me at the crest of the hill. She was over the centerline. Took the entire front left wheel off and I went into a ditch. I think because the wheel came off kept me from flipping when I went into ditch.  Feel fortunate.  Bad time's to look for new truck. 

That was pure luck for you. If she was a foot farther over could have been much worse. Did your airbags go off??

Friend of mine in Texas lost his wife that way. Little Girl came over the crest too fast in the Rain, She slid
sideways and His wife t-boned her. Still remember him telling me he saw the Car and his wifes teeth were all over the dash. No air bags. Little girl survived because the passenger side slid around. Otherwise they would have both died.
