I think over the years I've owned 5.

My first when I was 20. A 1979 Buick Regal loaded. I think I paid $7700.

Right now is the worst time to buy any vehicle

I know I got raped.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Quote from: gcode on March 30, 2022, 05:54 AMMy wife was a hit and run so we'll be be paying $500 uninsured motorist and the $500 deductible
Insurance pays $25 a day for 30 days rental.
All $25/day gets you here is a Smart car.  :htd:
I upgraded mrs gcode's rental to a Honda CR-V for an additional $15/day.
I'll be surprised if they can get her car fixed in 30 days
Best case, we'll be out a couple of grand... worst case we'll be buying a new car
my brother backed into my brand new CRV in December, went to repair shop Jan 30th, it's still there waiting on a part, insurance doesn't want to pay for rent a car anymore been over 2 months, have to return it today

We were supposed to pick up my wife's XC-60 last Friday, but it was delayed because the new wheel they ordered
was late getting delivered.
We are supposed to get it back today.
Our insurance pays for 30 days rental only. The amount they pay covers a Smart Car
The Honda was a $30/day upgrade, but using her employer's corporate account got us a $15/day discount.
Between the $500 deductible, the $500 uninsured motorist deducible and $15/ day for the rental, we are out
about $1500.
I'm concerned about the hit the transmission and engine took.
The hit was hard enough to break the left front wheel, strut and some linkage components
I hope we don't start having transmission issues a few months down the road.
The vehicle is paid for and this is not a good time to buy a car.
They are asking more for a 2 year old model XC-60 with 25K on it than we paid for a new one in 2016

Quote from: Del. on April 01, 2022, 03:06 PMReplaced my truck today.

2019 Ram 1500 4X4
5.7 L Hemi
Thats my exact outfit. I went with the Ram because of a few reasons.
1- The salesman wasn't a total dick pushing financing on me.
2- They gave me the same deal as I would of gotten had I financed. Funny how when I walked out of the Ford & Chev dealer they came running out the door saying they could give me a deal. Fuck them. Give me your best deal up front or you don't have a deal. And fuck financing. If my cash doesn't give the best price, Ill find someone who will take cash.
3- the leg room in the back seat was way better than the Ford or Chev. Night & day difference. I am 6'4", 220 lbs & I could easily fit behind myself in the backseat. Not so with the Chev & Ford.

Yeah I'm happy with all the room. My old truck was an extended cab but Ram is a crew cab. Lots of room and storage. Now that I drive a Ram I'm seeing a lot of them on the road.

CHEVY fan here but bought a Ram for two reasons.
price, I now have more $ in maintenance than I bought it for.
easier to work on, this has kinda worked out well because it seems I am constantly working on it.
