I was there in December and going back this summer
They purchased 2, 5 Axis FPT 5 Meter High Kenta's and I'm tooling all machines with the Fast Mill system
10 ton molds. Austin is a nice place.
building won't be done till fall

Isn't Austin the blue butt hole of Texas?

"While Musk entered in the original roadster, he touted the future of Tesla, including the transition to full self-driving, a robotaxi, and the Optimus humanoid robot, which Musk said will be able to do "basically anything that humans don't want to do.""

Haha haven't we heard this for a decade? Not knocking what elon has accomplished but...."Full Self-Driving"...LOL

If there is one thing this guy is genius at its starting the hype train and keeping it going full speed ahead! You don't become the worlds "richest" man without a cult of personality behind you and your products. Good for him!
Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

When I think about Elon Musk, I amazed at what he has accomplished. He hasn't delivered everything has touted, but his accomplishments are impressive. Whether you like him or not, doesn't matter. He has or will have an effect on our lives. EV's are the future, there is no getting around that. And Tesla will be leading the pack.

If I was smart, I would have bought Tesla stock five years ago.

Full Self Driving will happen. It's not "will it happen" its really just "when" it will happen. Will we see it anytime soon? I don't know, but I am rooting for it, because I want to nap on my way to Costco an hour away.

Not to mention he now basically owns the most stock in Twitter and has a board seat.  He pretty much pisses excellence in  most all of his investments

He owns 9.2% of Twitter stock and this morning he declined to join Twitter's board of directors
I would have liked to see him on the board of directors. He thinks Twitters moderation policies
are biased and unfair. It would have been cool to see him shake things up.

this isn't done yet, he is a genius

He'll make his mark @gcode and it'll most likely be epic and you'll smell the burn from here in SoCal.

In other related news; Slack is hiring... everyone except butthurt Twitter employees.

Maybe, but not for a long, long time will they be driven by the majority of the population.
The infrastructure just isn't there to produce all of the electricity needed to charge millions of EV's 24/7.

I wonder how those politicians that scream EV's think this electricity will be produced?  Hmmm. Coal power plants to power the grid needed to charge these vehicles perhaps? That means more coal needed.
It's simply not feasible to use wind or solar to power the charging grid for the entire country.

Honestly I don't see everyone going electric for 50 years maybe more.

"Renewable" or so-called "Green" energy (wind and solar) are at best unreliable energy sources for the vast majority of the US. They are subject to weather conditions and a whole host of other things that are COMPLETELY out of EVERYONE's control.

We think we have electrical grid problems now. Wait until all those EV's come on line.

What a shit show.

EV's can also be part of the solution.

A huge drawback of 'green energy' is that it fluctuates with the wind and sun, so the power must be stored at the time of maximum production so it can be used during periods when it's dark or calm.

So instead of charging EV's at night, EV batteries could be charged during the day. Then overnight, that electricity is drawn out and used within the home.

A 100% EV presence is not going to happen anytime soon. We are now entering a transition phase. In 2016 there was an estimated 1 million (worldwide) EV's on the road. In 2022 that number will be more than 20 million. The growth is happening exponentially. Easily in 10 to 20 years, we will see more EV's on the road than ICE vehicles.

I am not here promoting them, because I too, wonder how the electrical grid will be able to handle all these new EV's. That problem is not going to slow the growth.
