I'm no expert but maybe you shouldn't try to generate power from hyrdro electric dams to power states that are in a desert.

Newsom is actually rethinking the shutting of the last nuclear power plant in California
In spite on all the econazis green mandates, Cali actually imports 80% of it's power
from out of state coal, natural gas and nuclear plants, at great expense to Cali residents.

@Del. ya know, that truth stuff you're saying has no place in a liberal utopia like The People's Republik of Kommieforniastan.

We can continue to build and make no provision for water storage. We can continue to push EV's on an already strained power generation and distribution system and make no provision for the present or future. We can continue to not punish criminals because they will stop this time out of the goodness of their hearts. We can do ALL things and so may others and face no consequences because the rest of the US will bail us out. You will have to because we are the 5th largest economy on the planet amd without us, the whole US economy will crash.

😆😅🤣😂

Nuclear power seems the best way to me

CADCAM396

my understanding is we supply north cali with a bit of power from northwest hydro. the columbia river is massive resource. issues with fish runs have been realized but a little late now. IDK
IMHO each demographic has its best power resource one shoe does not fit all.
nuclear scares me but if managed correctly I do believe it can be viable.

Enough nuclear power plants in the Vegas desert should allow Lakes Mead and Powell to start recovering so long as they use plant base copper to reach the West coast

Unfortunately you need a consistent water source with noocewlar.

Damn the bad luck.

We don't run any desal plants because our shitbitlrd leftist politicians are competent morons. I think there is only one. The looneys scream "you'll make the ocean too salty".

The idiots don't seem to know that there is just as much water on the planet today as there always has been.

Quote from: Newbeeeeâ„¢ on May 02, 2022, 02:51 AMDo you boys run many desalination plants?
It's a great idea, when you have coastal cities, seeing as they're coastal and the planet is 70% water....

The only desalination plant I know of in CA is in San Diego. Cost $1 billion to build & supplies enough water for just 7% of San Diego. Not really economical. Nuclear can make it economical, but that is not going to happen.

CNCAppsJames

True that it is not economical, however, when politicians decide to ignore tthe fact that there are very real limitations to resources and infrastructure, it becomes a dire necessity to supplement the existing water supplies.

The problem with current desalinization technology is that it takes vast quantities of electricity.
I believe they squeeze sea water through tiny membranes under ultra high pressures and all the electricity
is required to run the pumps that produce the ultra high pressure.
Of course ultra high pressure systems like this cost a lot to build and a lot to maintain.
When I was a boy in Saudi Arabia, the ground water was undrinkable.
In Saudi Arabia they flare off all the natural gas coming out of the oil fields so energy is not a problem
They simply used natural gas to distill sea water.
Our homes had two faucets, one delivered hard ground water, the other, pure H20.

According to the shitbirds in Excremento their answer to drought (which is natural in a DESERT) is to ration us down to about a teaspoon per person per day, all the while those shitbirds keep their finely manicured lawns for their residences and brothels.

and they continue to dump a zillon acre feet of water a year into the Sacramento river basin.
They've have been doing this for years now and and it's turned California's Central Valley ( once America's vegetable basket), into a third world Mad Max wasteland.

That's my thinking on nuclear. Get distilled water from the cooling process. Bonus is they would generate a bunch of electricity to recharge their cars. Double win.
