got one? what brand and how good is it
I want one with a camera
I was big into RC aircraft for years, 6' wing span gliders to gas powered planes, I bought a sea plane and totaled it on first flight so Im done with them. I used to build them from balsa.
now I want to snoop around cause I live in the burbs

CADCAM396

sporting a couple Holey Stone HS165's. I have tried many in this price range ($135) and this one was the winner.
dont expect too much at this level but it takes decent pics and video and is easy to control.
keep it above obstacles, out of wind and watch out for wifi interference and it behaves nicely.

and just how do you do that before its to late

CADCAM396

I have a routine pre take off. Checking my connect on phone and watching video feed at take off. if she gets a little un responsive I take her down right away.
once I get a good connect it seems to hold. usually it is my home wifi that try's to butt in. run your phone in airplane mode with wifi manually turned on and connected to your drone.
if control shows any sign it is not responding I hit the home button and it lands back at take off point.

Just fyi...I have a strict policy on drones in my neighborhood.
If one flies over my property, I'm not even gonna yell "PULL" before I frag it with meh Remington 870 wif a 3" magnum turkey load.

Serious question...
When you hit the 'home' button, does it just take a straight vector back to the takeoff point, or does it re-trace its original course?  I was just wondering if, for example, you flew around an obstacle on the outbound leg, would it crash into that same obstacle on the return flight, or go around it?

No, that's what you get sometimes when you check the "No retract" option on 3D paths in MC  ;D

CADCAM396

it fly's up 50 feet (this can be set in settings) then it takes straight path home.

do your research on FAA regulations. it is a federal offense to shoot at aircraft. owner is supposed to get permission to fly over private property etc etc.

one reason I like what i have is it is under regulated weight, lot less rules.

be careful and respectful it is federal regulated you dont want to get in deep with them.

Have a Team Blacksheep Discovery that I built many years back, a custom little racing quad that scares the crap out of people, and a DJI Mavic pro.

I have a DJI Mavic.  Battery Life approximately 20 minutes. Range/4 miles with line of sight. It takes Great video, Easy to fly, etc.

You need to check your area before flying.  No fly zones EVERYWHERE!!  There's an APP that tells you if your in a no fly zone...

Mine is set to fly to maximin flying altitude (400 feet), (That is as high as the LAW ALLOWS, it can be disabled..), and then return straight path back.  It will land with in 3 inches of take off spot!  Also, This drone has sensors to the front, and down that will stop it if an obstacle is detected.  The newer ones have side sensors, and might even have back sensors..
