Anyone on here ever had any tooth/teeth implants?  Experience?

My granddaughter had one done a few years back...worked out well...

Cost me an arm & a leg but she was too young to have no tooth...

I got an implant bridge put in yesterday.  It fits pretty tight, but I'm wondering how difficult it is to keep it clean underneath.

And yea, not too cheap.

I had a tooth knocked loose in my 20's. (long story).  It had been loose for so long, that the bone around it started to deteriorate.  It got bad enough that the tooth next to it was on the edge of falling out.  I had the two teeth next to them pulled and had implants put in as an anchor for the bridge.  It was a pretty miserable experience.

Now my concern is keeping it clean.

She's has had no problems in that department..

She also went through Invisaline to get the rest of her teeth straightened and there were no issues with the implant...by all accounts it's been and she has had 0 issues...

Side note, the guys that has done all of my tats, he had a full mouth done about 2 years ago...he constantly goes on about what a good things it was and that he'd recommend it to anyone who was considering it.

The only thing she had a small issue with was the coloring of the implant under the gum line...it intially looked kind of blueish...they did something, I'd have to ask her exactly what, I don't recall but the color was addressed and looks fine now.

I did the invisalign too. My teeth were pretty screwed up.  I'm really happy with the results.

I'm actually still wearing the trays and am getting the retainers close to the end of this year.

I got an implant about 4 years ago (lower left rear...can't remember what "number" that it) and it has worked well so far, knock wood.

Evidently the molar had cracked some years earlier, but it took a long time for symptoms to manifest. I just brush and floss regularly, but I've also got a water pic device that I mostly forget to use....

Did your endodontist offer any particular tips? My understanding is that this is just about the best fix you can do, and that the big thing is the condition of the bone that the implant is placed into. A friend who is a heavy smoker tried implants years ago, but they failed, and I think he said that smoking somehow doesn't help with this...?

I water pik religiously.  After a couple of cocktails, those things are dangerous.  :D

I saw a periodontist, but yea, they gave me a few different types of floss. They gave some advise, but user experience would probably be helpful?  I mean really, who listens to their dentist?

I was hoping I'd get to keep all my original equipment, but if that's not possible, at least I've been "enhanced" with a machined part! Now I've got something kinda like a Keen-Sert in my jawbone.

The endodontist showed me a bunch of the cutting tools he uses, and I brought in some of my stuff, too, just for show and tell.

Side note...

I'm 56, I have not had a single natural tooth in my mouth since Aug 1991....at the tender age of 25, I chose and the oral surgeon did not disagree, to have all of my teeth out....I've had dentures since Apr 1992....

Best decision, besides marrying my 2nd wife, that I've ever made...

I've explored implants....love the notion, I'd have to take out a small mortgage...as such, ain't happening but not becasue I don't believe in it...

Good Luck Dave!

Yikes.  That's pretty young to go full on dentures.

We have a guy at our shop who just went full dentures and said that it was the best decision that he's ever made. No more dental visits.  I can't say that I blame him.  I hate the dentist.  I've been going to the same dentist since I was 19. If I hadn't started going I would probably be in the same boat. As you can see by those teeth trays, my teeth were pretty f'd up.  The bottom teeth were even worse.

You've had a pretty fascinating life J.  I thought that mine was pretty chaotic. Seems that there are several of us here who've had chaotic lives.  Probably a prerequisite of becoming a machinist?  :D

You should have seen the bottoms. I could eat corn on the cob through a picket fence.

Now I have a dollar fifty smile. That cost a fortune. Lol

I'm glad the remedy worked for you. Bet it hurt like a cuss.

Have always hated dental work.

And those sound like a constant numbing pain as they scoot your teeth over.

In my day we used Baling wire and a horse to pull it tight.

But then again you younger guys are a Lil more sensitive. :D
