I got a few examples from Jeff and opened a story to improve the sorting of mass-added hole features. As was partially mentioned earlier on, when you mass-add a collection of solid holes or faces (ctrl+click for example), every hole after the one the user clicked on added in the order they exist in the history of the body itself. My thinking is these should be point-to-point sorted before being inserted into the Toolpath Hole Definition list.

Any idea why solid 2d contours would randomly sort rather than machining in the order selected?

I don't know if this happens every time, but it's happened to me several times. I'll select multiple solid contours in the order I want them machined, and it doesn't machine them in the order selected. If I try to sort them, it makes no difference.

I know that depending on the toolpath, they don't have a directive to follow the order created in that chain manager dialog. I was going to forward this on to the product owner for consideration. Do you have a file that I can use as an example? It'd save me the time to create one. If not, no big deal.

I'll see if I can dig something up. I should have a recent file. This happened again not too long ago.

OK, I whipped a file up real quick and it did this first try. I then replicated it in 2023. The original file was from an older version of MC pulled up. Not sure if that would make a difference.

I selected the contours in a row and it put 1 row in random order and the other row in the order picked. It renumbered the chains to reflect the number that they are machining in, but I assure you that this is not the order I selected them in.

Where should I email this?

You can send it right to [email protected]. Thank you!

Sent. Let me know if you figure something out.

If it's something I'm screwing up I'm just as eager to hear about it so I'll stop doing it in the future. :D

To just respond here, it appears that solid chains order for multi-body selections, after selection is accepted, is being reordered in the chains manager to the inverse of the associated solid body order in the Solids manager- very similar issue to drilling. I sent it along. Thank you.

I've been using 2023 for a week or so now.  Most things I can get over but the stock/machine set-up takes waaay too many mouse clicks.  Bounding box operations seem buggy too.  when is Update 1 coming out?

It should be any day now, it's currently in testing phase. If you're a part of the beta you can grab it.

It's a pain in the D!ck to install software here, everything is locked down.  Beta isn't worth my hassle.  I probably should have just waited on update 1 to start off with.

FWIW, I'm still using 2022. I have more issues than most people with 2023 like crashing so I'm holding off.
