Shit is gonna start shutting down affecting all manufacturing.

We already have orders for Material exceeding August delivery.

And we are a small shop.

Being that the Russian war wasn't involved with FJB raising the American energy prices, it's hard to believe this reason for shutting down the smelter. The real question is who is shutting it down and how much are the smelter owners getting paid.

wow! Talk about an overheated economy!

In missouri Ameren UE (electric company) is being forced to close their biggest coal generation plant because of EPA restrictions. It'g going to cost them something like $800 million to close it and get some replacement energy somehow, which will be passed along to the customers.

Closing power plants and forcing the public into electric cars sounds like a winning strategy.

Was asked to quote programming for a 32 pallet 3 machine system being delivered in 6 weeks. I asked how many pallets are being delivered with the system? Well none we are saving money getting them ourselves. I laughed and said and when is the last time you priced 500mm Tombstones? What was the lead time you were getting? Well 1 week and how long ago was that? Well 10 years or so. I said get some pricing and delivery dates and get back to me. 5 times what he paid then and 12-16 week lead time on 4 and 30 weeks on the 28. I asked them you ever consider getting into the tombstone making business?  ;D  ;D  ::)  ::)

They just shut down the Palisades Nuclear plant north of here. That's 725 megawatts we're missing. Then there are three coal powered plants being shutdown south of here that the power companies tried to replace with NG plants. The tree huggers got involved and the state denied them permission to build them.

With our recent 100 degree temps, power companies all over the state have warned of the possibility of rolling black out and requested large consumers of electricity to close down.

I though this was Indiana, not Kalifornia.

How many wheels does this wagon have? They've been falling off since the former vp sat down in the oval office on day 1!

Palisades Nuclear plant has been a disaster almost from the beginning. The ownership have exchanged hands several times. The only good thing Palisades did was create the casks that holds the spent uranium on site.

Cook Nuclear plant was built mainly to supply power to the Kentucky aluminum smelters.

Who are now suspending operations for 9-12 months because they can't make $$$ with current energy prices...

Early last year AEP jacked up our electricity 18% to rebuild the power lines with the blessing of Lansing. I wonder if Kentucky is just now getting their rates increased for the power lines or if they're getting an added increase.

That Century Aluminum plant had a coal fired power plant for a next door neighbor. That power plant was the sole electricity provider for them for YEARS.

In 2017, when electricity rates were very low, a few MBAs decided to terminate their agreement with their neighbor and buy their juice on the wholesale market to save a nickle.

With their largest customer gone, the power plant wanted to have their juice pumped into the MISO(Midcontinent Independent System Operator) transmission lines. The FERC(Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) said no.

The power plant is currently being demolished.
