My dad will be turning 90 in a few weeks. For years now at Christmas time and such we buy him a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue. What is better? A once in a lifetime bottle for a normal person. A couple a few hundred bucks is fine

I go for Laphroaig 25. Or even the 15. Tho some don't appreciate the peat flavor it does have. The stuff is amazingly good to my taste though.

For his 90th, you definitely gotta head to Costco!

Kirkland tequila and vodka are choice.
Not sure if they have a whiskey.

As a scotch drinker, there's nothing wrong with Johnnie Walker Blue. It's smooth and nicely balanced. There's really little "better".
I personally prefer Johnnie Walker Black because it has a little more alcohol 'heat' and I find many of the flavors more pronounced.

That said, your dad won't turn 90 again, so a special bottle is in order.

Since your dad is accustomed to the Johnnie Walker flavor profile, I'd stick with that brand and go with one of their more exclusive bottles.

A bottle of Johnnie Walker King George will set you back $600. Yes, it's a lot of money, however this is a special birthday.

I've never had Johnny Walker Blue but my personal favorite Scotch is Ardbeg Uigeadail. It's not as expensive but pretty damn good nonetheless.

I think I choked a little bit trying to pronounce Ardbeg Uigeadail.

I don't think a non Scottish person is capable of pronouncing it. :)
