I don't want to argue about gun control.  It's just a no win argument.

To reiterate - I don't think that Japan is a great example to use.  That's all I'm saying.

14,000 murders (not suicides) in US per year.
400 million guns
that's .00004 merders per gun

Japan has 377,000 civilian guns (on my first google stop)
and ten gun murders
that's .000026 murders per gun.

By golly i stand corrected. Japan is slightly better than us per capita gun deaths. I'm kinda shocked at the similarity. Pretty much makes my arguement that it's not a people control issue, it's a moriality issue that cuts across cultures and pin headed legislation. Now if we can only fix the shitholes, we'd be better than japan.

When it goes sideways for someone in Japan... they just hare kare. It's kind of an honor thing with them. And in Japan... you just DO NOT break the law there. Unless you like prison. They don't mess around. Public drunkenness here in the US... Celebrated. In Japan... you lose your job AND you get in jail. Good luck finding another job after you get out. NO safety net. Sink or swim. If we had fewer safety nets to save people from their stupidity, the problems woudl take care of themselves more often than not.

If one US citizen has 1 million guns then japan is just as bad and the US?  lol.

Per gun?   :headscratch:

Wasn't there a book written about a forest in Japan that people would travel to just to commit suicide?

When you enter it, there are signs in both Japanese and English preventing people against a suicide. One sign at the entrance reads: "Your life is something precious that was given to you by your parents" while another one states "Meditate on your parents, siblings and your children once more. Do not be troubled alone." The exact number of suicides committed here in a year is unknown as the police discontinued publishing this data. The last time it was made public was in 2003, when 105 confirmed suicides took place. Here is a graph showing the data between 1998 and 2003:

The 400,000,000 guns in civillian hands in the US is a pretty conservative estimate. Some have said over 600,000,000. I tend to believe the number lies closer to the 500,000,000 figure than 600,000,000. The ammunition tho... that number is over 1,000,000,000,000 rounds of ammunition in civilian hands.

Corn Pop can talk ALL the shit he wants but no matter what he says, there IS enough small arms in civilian hands in the US to be a REAL problem for the US Military even with all their technology and superior firepower. Remember, 0nly about 10% of the total military are direct combat forces. The rest are logistics, management, and overhead. It's not going to be a walk in the park for ANYONE. I hope it never comes to that because the last time we fought ourselves... the Civil War.... we lost more people in that war than ALL the other wars we've fought in combined. The next one will make that look like an elementary school brawl.

I think it's  fascinating subject myself. When I was 16 (could be 15) I was less than an inch away from ending my life on train tracks in City of Industry. I jumped out of the way at THE LAST second. Lost a shoe... the train took it.

Honestly I could not even tell you why I wanted to end it that day. I know I was fucked up from all the chemicals I was taking... Weed, Cocaine, PCP, LSD, Opium... I also know it was around the time my parents divorced. It was no surprise but it still fucked me up.

The mind can take you to some DARK places.

And  yet you left out about 300 countries on that list.

And do you really think you have the real number from North Korea???

Does that account for the anti -aircraft guns they Kill subordinates with??

The Data you represent Kinda Sucks.

Thanks. People tend to trip out when I tell them about my teenage years. Especially the chronic drug use. How my mind wasn't completely destroyed.... had to be divine intervention. It's the only explanation. The LSD alone should have cooked my brain.

I often look back and wonder how I made it out of my teenage years alive. By the grace of God is all I got.

Bingo, Liberalism is a mental disorder. It feeds on victim mentality. To gain power they prey on peoples emotions convincing them they are victims. Most get inline and pledge their allegiance to their .gov saviors. A small portion become disaffected and act out violently. It's not just one sided either. The more upside down the moral values get, the more conservative people start to lose hope, some will take action as well, often violently. Truthfully, the same tactics the white nationalists of today and Nazi's of WW2 Germany use to gain mental control is the playbook the Dems are currently running.
