So now you can bake your wallet while the company breaks your wallet.
You will own nothing and be happy.

So when are subscription functions coming to CNC's?

And if you bought the machine and own machine, what would be wrong with hacking the functions that are already there?

That's why a lot of the guys here from the mid west don't buy modern tractors
You may own the iron, but you don't own the brains that make it go.

There was a really nice thread (now dead and gone ) on eMC Off Topic about this
Some of the guys there were really into old tractors

BMWs and Audis have about the same rep for being expensive to maintain so I guess that I am either lucky or smart because I bought a 2006 Audi Quattro A6 with 85K miles about 7 years ago for $6500. I still love it. Couple of problems Both adaptive headlights had problems, Bought on Ebay for about $350 each as opposed to $1500 each and a persistent oil leak that ultimately cost about $1500. Drives on ice like you wouldn't believe and still no rust

I've heard the same about Mercedes, but have no idea if there's any truth to it.

Coincidentally I bought my wife a 2007 Mercedes 280c a year before I bought the Audi. It only had 65K on the odometer and hasn't needed anything but gas, oil changes and tires. It still looks brand new.

I think the plain jane engines BMW and Mercedes make are pretty reliable
The fancy V8 and twin scroll 6's high performance engines not so much
High performance  = high maintenance
on a side note a guy at work bought a pretty standard BMW new
and said he's never do it again.
That car bled him white.

Add VW to the list. The only good engines they ever made were the aircooled ones.

Watercooled VW engines have a bad rep and rightly so. And if you need to repair them, it will make your eyes water. They call the dealers Stealerships.

I had a 2010 VW Golf Wagon. Drove beautifully, handled great, great power, and great economy. Timing chain stretched after two years. Dealer wanted to charge me 4k to replace it. Turned out there was a lawsuit going on over the engine fault, and VW was replacing them under "goodwill". The dealer chose not to inform customers of this, unless someone like me did my homework.

Got it replaced, and it failed again after eighteen months. I sold it a month later.

Never again :)
