I was told many years ago "Anytime you want to dump Mastercam just let me know."

We'll have Mastercam here at least until I retire. After that I have no idea what will happen since I have yet to start training my replacement. I have two new post systems to write and that would be the perfect time to start the training.

I am starting to have much the same problem...Boss is retiring at the end of the year....I am trying to push them to bring someone on NOW so we'll have a few months to transition this person. It's all but certain the person we'll bring in will be around my age..which will make 3 guys ALL in mid-50's..I want to bring on a 4th, younger guy to train and grow....all I get is non-committal and aversion to reality.

I figure if all goes well, I have no more than 10 years...other guy is my age, I suspect he'll be gone as soon as he is financially able but I'm betting before 65.....and whoever we bring on will be in that same window....

I get asked when I'm going to retire quite often now from salesmen and outside department people. I tell them all the same thing, "I'll let you know the day I do it."   I have no clue when I'm retiring but I figure one day I'll wake up in the morning and know it's time.

I personally have no real desire to retire. My hope is I get a youngling to tutor and mentor. The hope is my son (currently in Service at my company) decided Applications is for him.

It's funny how it kind of hits you all at once.
31 years of Gung Ho and then one day you just have enough,
looking forward to semi-retirement in five years.

I'm in my mid fifties. I'd like to retire now, but I wont (can't LOL).

I'm thinking at around sixty, I will start to wind down, dropping down to four, then three, days a week in my day job (almost do that now LOL), and then quit, just doing my software and consulting stuff, until I can't be bothered doing that.
