Quote from: Smit on July 28, 2022, 04:35 PMI do remember Missouri being a very purple state, probably more blue than purple. Today it's solid red for whatever reason. You saying your area is strongly union is somewhat surprising to me because Republicans in general despise unions. But union jobs are usually good paying, high quality jobs.

It seems to me like the parties are changing at the ground level and those changes haven't really reached the upper echelon of the parties yet. I see pro-union, pro- Republicans everywhere I go here.

On the flip side you have guys like Bezos and others who vote Democrat but are doing everything they can to fight unionization of their businesses. When I was growing up most of the farmers were democrats, but now it feels to them like democrats are trying to take their livelihood away,  through environmental regulations. Times are a changing.

Smit, you should get in while the gettings good ;)

You have to hand it to him.  It's hard to hand out anything coherent when anything you say that goes against the grain gets you attacked by a pack of rabid dogs.

Dont mind me.  I've had a cocktail.

Quote from: Smit on July 28, 2022, 04:35 PMThe Trump tax cuts were primarily permanent giveaways to business that helped the debt sky rocket.

As far as the stock market and gas prices, I think people have a tendency to give the President much more credit or blame for conditions than they should be given.  People will heap praise on Trump for the economy during his term. (On a side note, the people who do that also refuse to acknowledge he inherited a healthy economy :) )

I guess Biden's policies are so bad they're pretty much tanking the whole world's economy because it is a worldwide wave right now.

My corporation taxes went up with the trump changes. Minimum rate went up to 21% while blue collar individual taxes went down. Kinda blows up your thesis. Not that you need anything from this asshole, but this place is probably better with you around, so don't let me discourage.
But I do agree with you pressidents get a little too much credit and blame for the overall economy. But yes Biden policies are that bad. The world has been following everything we do with money policy to keep exchange rates stable, so the world stuff is Bidens fault for doing the opposite of every good idea.every.single.time.

Right now Congress is putting out a 400 billion proposal as a green energy and inflation bill.
7 trillion inflationary Wuhan boondoggle and the inflation problem's cure is more cowbell.🫣🤯

Bruce....just no....

Politics in music is not something that drives me to like or disklike any particular person/band....there's a whole lot of music that's VERY political, yet it's still great music..just think about how many songs came out of the late 60's/early 70's, very politcal, yet much of it these days is classic.

for me any way, it really is All about the music
Same here. A lot of punk music I listen to I am diametrically opposed to politically, but dayum it's good music so I listen. Especially Dead Kennedys and Social Distortion.

So not a Guru

Quote from: Smit on July 28, 2022, 07:33 AMPlease tell me what the party of conspiracy theories has done to help the blue collar worker recently? Perhaps I missed it?
They have wholeheartedly joined with the party of woke in convincing every American that they are victims of "insert your scapegoat or bogeyman of choice here"
It amazes me how, over the past decade or two, everything became their fault. Apparently none of us own mirrors anymore.

You're only a victim if you choose to be but there does seem to be many choosers.

But Neil Young post 1978 is garbage.

I saw Bruce Springsteen his last tour before Covid struck. The wife and I were gifted suite tickets to the show at the (then) Sprint center. I'm not a huge fan of Springsteen, he's got a few really good songs and a lot more that are alright, IMO.

I can understand how so many people are big fans of his concerts. They played over 3 hours and with a lot of energy. I didn't have great expectations when I went in but it was a really good show. He gave the crowd their moneys worth.

I remember back in the 80's when he was super popular.  I never cared for his music.  It had nothing to do with politics.  :D
