I would pick something in your life you want to do/improve and then focus on that during the period you are reading the book. Every morning when I am out running and I start getting tired and want to slack I think some line from the book and I keep going.

I just found out that there is a clean version and the original version of this book. @YoDoug , any idea what version you have? Apparently the original version is heavily populated with f bombs and other foul language (Ref his interviews). The clean version has no profanity.

The version I read (a coworker loaned it to me) was the F-bomb version.

A quick update to my 75 hard journey. in two attempts at nearly the 50 days I started finding that the requirements were affecting my BJJ training. By the time evening rolls around I was too worn out to got to BJJ. I realized I went from training 3+ days a week to once on average. There are a couple of BJJ tournaments early next year that I want to compete in. I won't be ready only training once a week. I also am paying $$ every month for my BJJ gym membership. I decided to put my official 75 hard on hold. I have still been doing the daily reading and working out everyday, sometimes twice, just not twice everyday. I have been sticking to the diet requirements as well. I just have backed off the outside workouts and have gone back to my normal daily water intake, about 1/2 to 3/4 gallon.

My kid got sick around day 50 and bailed. His roommate finished Saturday.

But the kid did run his first marathon on Saturday and finished with an official time of 3:26:42, so he's doing ok.

Bumping this to the top because I'm thinking of giving it a try.

I have been debating on another 75 hard attempt this summer. I may try but my BJJ schedule is pretty grueling right now and I don't know if I can handle the second workout on BJJ days. I have been training 2.5hours (mix of instruction, drilling, and open mat) on Mon, Thur, and Sat. Sunday is 2 hour open mat. Also on most Wednesdays I do 1-1.5 hours of drilling with a training buddy. I just don't think I can handle everyday. I would like to tell you Tue and Fri are my strength training days but most of time I just take rest days to recover.

As for Goggins, I'm about half way through his second book, Never Finished. If you liked the first book, there are some great inspirational nuggets in the second book.

I've got a trip to Montreal next week I know will make this impossible.
I going to get mentally ready in the meantime. ;D

I've been hitting the gym in the morning for almost 6 months now and it's time to step it up.

My advice, if you don't already drink a gallon of water a day start ramping up now. It is a lot of water and you will have to go all the time. I literally had to change my morning outside run route so I would go past the 24 hr fitness a mile from our house so I could stop to use the restroom if I needed. I also made a big push in the morning/early day and tried to get my gallon done by 4 pm. Otherwise I would be up three times at night.

Can you use your BJJ training as your workout?

75 hard requires two separate 45 minute workouts each day with one being outside. I could count BJJ for one of the workouts but the outside one would still need to happen everyday. That could even be a simple 3 mile hike, it doesn't need to be a hardcore workout. It is just a lot to add to a day that is already going to have 2-2.5 hours of BJJ.

After talking about 75 hard I decided to do my lunchtime workout outside today. I did 4.1 miles is 43:16. Not quite my normal pace but pretty decent.

I mean, that is pretty much a regular night for me.
