Quote from: CNCAppsJames on September 01, 2022, 02:50 PMI believe if I were to put EVERY job I worked at on a resume... starting with my 1st CAREER job;

The ones with no time are weeks/months. The one that is bold and underliend... hands down the biggest lying shitbirds I've ever worked for and that's a pretty long list. That piece of shit (owner of the now defunct business) is now a politician for a larger city in the San Gabriel Valley... the job suits him perfectly.

GT Bicycles! :)

Like some on here I've had many jobs. Worked for shit wages early in my career as machinists most of the time are looked down upon compared to other trades. Took jobs for less money when it gave me an opportunity to learn new machines and ways of machining. Taught myself programming. First on a Mazak with a Mazatrol control and then worked at a place where we wrote programs longhand. Taught myself Mastercam at home at night and on weekends with a book. Stayed with the trade through multiple layoffs and a shop closing or two. This is the part that pisses me off if I think about it. This piece of chit gets a multiple dollar raise off of my years of sacrifice and hard work. Now they have created an employee who feels entitled. Cones in when he wants. Leaves when he wants. Does whatever the hell he wants. I just try to focus on the positive aspects of the job and remind myself I don't have a ton of times left. Today is review day and we will see how they treat me.

I probably should have put what I did at each company. My 1st mostly Full-time Programming gig was Rainbow.. after that it's been combinations of manufacturing disciplines except at CAD/CAM Consulting. Thatbwas the local Mastercam Dealer. I did sales, support, and some light-ish post processor work.

It's been an awesomeride sonfar. Surenit's had itsups amd downs but man... manufacturing is sofa king awesome! I can't imagine being involved in anything else. .

Selway is where I will probably breathe my last breath. 😆😅🤣😂

My first few jobs out of HS were in Automotive repair shops. I went to school for a year for a diploma. Over a five year period I worked at a Firestone, Big O tires, and a small muffler and brake shop.

Then when looking for a new job I ended up replying to an add that was looking for someone with a mechanics background. It was a heavy fab shop. Small place, only 6 employees. I rant he saw and started learning on the Bridgeport. There were two CNC's, a Dah-Lih vertical and a Sacem HBM. I started taking night classes for machining and programming. I also started using Surfcam at that job. About a year into my classes the old timer programmer machinist went out for a hip replacement. He was a bad attitude and had a horrible relationship with the owner but had convinced him he was the only one that could keep the machines making parts. He put all kinds of booby-traps into his programs. Two identical pockets but using different comp values, Same tool using two different height offsets, etc. I was able to read through the code and managed to make good parts. When the old timer came back after his recovery to start working the boss told him get his crap and leave. The shop was on the north side of Milwaukee. Stayed about 2.5 years but then we moved south of Milw and it was an hour + drive so I moved on.

The next job was a job shop doing a lot of casting work for JD, CAT, Cummins, etc. We also did a lot of emergency repair work for big companies in town, SC johnson, AIPC, etc. While at this job I went to night school to get an AAS in mechanical design. Stayed there for about three years but then moved again.

This move ended in Broken arrow OK. The first shop only lasted about 3 months. The only job I have ever been fired from. I was the only employee. We butted heads from the very beginning. I think we just got off to the wrong start. over the next few years after that we became good friends and he started hiring me for contract programming and process dev.

The next job was for the fishing reel company. In the R and D department. It lasted about 8 years, but I am surprised it lasted that long. I watched the company shrink every year from piss poor management, but somehow the upper management always got their bonuses. Three years in a row of layoffs, I got caught in the last one.

While looking for a job we looked in many parts of the country, ended up getting a job in MN. This job only lasted about 8 months. They made a ton promises and didn't live up to them. They tried to get me to stay but by the time I gave my notice I had already found a different direction.

The next job was for the Okuma dist. Stayed for 8 years. Made it through 5 bosses, two owners, three division presidents. At the same time I went back to college for an EE degree. I eventually left because I want to do more automation.

Been at my current job for 4.5 years. I mostly work on automation. We have a dozen machines and everyone has a robot or pallet system on them. I design, build, and maintain all automation here. Most of my programming time these days is  ABB Rapid language, Doosan DRL language, PLC ladder, and C#. I probably only program 10 CNC parts per year. I like this job and the owner really treats everyone well. I am well compensated and we are always growing so there is no shortage of challenges. I am currently working on a project using some vision systems for part recognition.

My youngest just graduated HS. We told her we would give her a couple years to figure out what she wants to do, then we are going to move south. The wife wants to be within 4-5 hours driving of her parents in eastern TN. I would like Charlotte, NC or even possibly the Central FL, Tampa or Orlando area.

I've had two tax paying jobs. One as a heavy equipment operator and my job here. I got laid off of my heavy equipment job on Monday (Jimmy Carter period) and hired here on Thursday. I didn't bother getting my unemployment check.

Somehow, I don't think G would be very interested in a visit from her. By the way, I really have no idea if G drinks Tequila, and he isn't ornery. He knows his sh** :)
