This is more or less the argument for things like trans story time. To expose (man that sounds like a bad word in this context lol)  people at a younger age to things that are different with the goal of them being more accepting and less judgemental of people who are different as they get older. I'm not going to say that I'm for or against it. I don't have kids to worry about, but if I did, I would hope that it was up to me to decide what they are exposed to.

I know this story isn't going to change anyone's mind on the subject; we have a local news anchor who is a married gay man. They have an adopted son. They did a segment on the whole trans story time thing due to the stigma around it and what he showed and talked about was nothing like what I've read about on some of the more conservative news outlets.  There is nothing sexual about it and they aren't trying to convert everyone's child in to being gay or trans. One of my ex-girlfriends has been to one of these and she said it was fun and her kids had a great time.    

Some people are just never going to accept things like that. I'm a lot more bigoted than I would like to be because of the generation that I grew up in. Anyway.   not trying to convince anyone.. Just an anecdotal local story.

I would be willing to bet that for every neutral event like this there are 20+ teachers/counselors/etc. that try to push every kid that doesn't feel like they fit in into the LBGTQ.... propaganda.

I think that it's the opposite.. I haven't done a bunch of research on that, but my girlfriend teaches in one of the most liberal Cities in the Country.  She say's that she's never seen anyone push any of that on anyone.  I'm guessing that you'll see a hand full of stories and it gets used as tool to piss people off.  Not that we get manipulated by politicians or the media or anything.   

And again, this is anecdotal.  Her experience in the Seattle school district may not reflect everyone's.

See I have heard the exact opposite of your story from parents I know with kids in the Minneapolis metro suburbs. Either way my opinion is none of that sh!t belongs in school. Kids need education/skills that are going to prepare them for jobs/college/votech/etc. Having empathy and knowing every what every letter and acronym of the LBGTQ world means are not skills that employers are looking for.

The "story time" that I talked about earlier was held in public libraries. People chose to go or not go. You weren't held at gun point. 

Activism doesn't belong in the classroom at all.
