It's funny, I didn't really notice anything too horrible.

I don't think I've ever seen a team so unprepared for an onside kick as Arkansas was. They just let the ball bounce downfield without any concerns at all.

It sure was a fun game at the end though.

Looks like Texas Tech DOES practice the onside kick quite a  bit!

3-7 2022/2023 Bowl Season

Not a great season for sure.

USC's Defense lost that game for us. The safety on USC's 2nd to last possession sealed the deal.

Wow.
I rarely bitch about the refs,but... Ho-Lee-SHIT!
Apparently that referee doesn't think that he needs indisputable video evidence to reverse a TD call on the field.
And he obviously has never read the definition of Targeting... that hit was textbook targeting!
Bad roughing the passer call.
Bad ball spotting.

I can't believe those guys still have jobs.

Congratulations to TCU and Georgia.

I hope TCU plays their A game, they're gonna need to to stand a chance!

Nice win for Penn State in the Rose Bowl!
We are going to savor this one because they are few and far between.

Congrats to Utah for a great season as well.

You gotta feel for Utah losing their starting QB two years in a row in the Rose Bowl, but that's football.
The teams were pretty evenly matched on paper, and they played a pretty even first half.
But PSU looked stronger in the 2nd half, and then when Rising went down with the injury that changed the game.

As a PSU fan it was nice to see Sean Clifford close out his career with a strong game.
Utah's secondary made a few big mistakes, and Clifford was quick to recognize them and take advantage.

Well there is now only one game left.
Georgia has been the team to beat all season, and TCU has shown they have game, so it should be a good one.
I will be pulling for the underdog, but whoever wins will deserve it.

The USC/Tulane game was crazy!

There have been a lot of really entertaining college football games this post season. I hope TCU brings their A game against Georgia, they're gonna need it.

I'm a TCU fan for this game, everybody loves an underdog.

As a team, you NEVER want to be in a position where a bad call/no-call hurts you and affects the outcome of a game. Play some damn defense, or take the game out of the ref's hands.

The whole season for USC was about the offense. When your O needs to put 50 up to win the game, that's not a great spot to be in. When things are so bad your D-Line players go onto bulletin boards to defend your line coach, there's a problem. Maybe it's a skill problem, maybe not, but I saw a LOT of fundamental mistakes. Guys out of position. Guys not wrapping up for tackles. Missed gap assigments. etc...

All the negatives aside, though our turnaround was not as great as Tulane's was ;2-10 from 12-2 IIRC vs. USC's 4-8(Clay Helton) to 11-3, I'm happy-ish. I always want my team to win. Tulane's O was better than USC's D. to them. They earned it.

Also on the p[ositive side, our turnaround was even better this year than Pete Carroll's 1st season which was 6-6 from 5-7 (Paul Hackett).

Moving in the right direction. I'll take it.

And in a couple years we'll be gone from that dreadfully run PAC-12 conference. Even more plusses.

Definitely true.
However, when it's a #2 vs #3 and it's a semi-final game, the refs need to make goddamn sure they make the correct call when reviewing a play.
They didn't.
They made calls that hurt both sides, but when it comes down to TWO calls that can/will decide the outcome of the game, the refs failed to do their job.

We had a situation like that in the Cotton Bowl. It was a pivotal moment with a couple minutes left in the game. USC's D committed 2 penalties and Tulane committed 1. USC's were Defensive holding IIRC... or something like that, Tulane committed a facemask. Worst case for USC, penalties should have offset. When the refs reviewed, the facemask was never called. Tulane guy had his fingers IN the cage and the USC player's head was pulled. Sucked.

You're absolutely right thought, there is NO excuse for a reviewed play to be called incorrectly. They've got time, they've got 4-5 camera angles minimum, there's multiple people looking at the play, they can go frame by frame...

In USC's case... kills me to say, but play like the game is on the line, play some damn D!

I wasn't able to watch that game but I checked the score periodically. Whoodathunk that Tulane would have even been in the game against USC?

If they can keep their talent pipeline and that coach, they should be regulars in the Top 10.
