From what I've read on PM, you can technically store files locally, as a temporary measure.  The master copy is in the cloud, and it's like checking it out from a PDM.  But if the software can't call home and verify a current account on a regular basis, you're SOL anyway, and those local copies are useless.

Could a different valid account open and edit the locally stored copies

I've been forced to use Fusion for about 6 months now.
The first month seemed unsurmountable.
I could not even get a simple 2D toolpath out of it.
I now use it explicitly for all my programming including surfacing and 5axis work.
I still struggle but I was also struggling with some things on MasterCam after 20 years for that matter.
There seems to be ghosts in my files. Things I can't explain. Some things will work fine one day but not the next.
There are a lot of "links" between files and solids that get messy if you try to change them.

Well we officially got it today.

New monitors and Computer also...Sooooo Chit is about to get deep.

Are you saying...The ghosts are in the software??

Or have you been into Del's Stash?

Would really love to hear from you on the curve to Transition.

Any extensions or apps that may be helpful.

Posts?? I have one anilam machine and it concerns me.

I love the machine but as a DeBurr hand I am less then capable to use it to its extent.

I could just send you beer and you could program it for me???

thanks for the input you are pretty Fly Flycut.

My two biggest issues is serious revision changes with no real version nomenclature. Ex. tutorials from a year ago are almost worthless when major changes happen. Not having a yearly version makes tracking changes quite annoying.

The second is the cloud based crap.

The Post library, probing, and ease of use are pretty great. How Fusion handles 3+2 is top notch. For job shops with no ITAR requirements and a high mix of low volume parts that you may never see again. It is a great software.

No idea.

You forgot no NDAs.  If you're using cloud software, you're sharing client data with another company without permission, which violates every NDA I've seen.

You can store copies locally. But the real files reside in the cloud.

Yes. Customers share data with me one of two ways;
Send me an invitation to their project on the cloud or e-mail me an *.fz3 (Fusion360 Archive) file.

I want to get back to you with as much info as I can but I'm at work and a slow typer.
I will compose a list of things I can recall and some that I come across today.
I've already come across 2 new hiccups this morning. (I never know if the hiccup is mine or the softwares.)
In short, everything is sensitive to time of creation. There is a history tree that I recommended keeping turned on and will allow you to "back pedal" when need be.
I will try to get back to you this evening.

From what I've read, in many cases, it doesn't.

Thank you.

And no rush I appreciate any info.

I'm hitting the tutorials tonight.

I figure at least 60 days to get really comfortable with it.

But i'm gonna keep my eyes open for any Ghosts. ;D

Honestly, this is highest level total BS from a business view.
I'm totally amazed that any business finds this an acceptable way of working, ITAR. NDA or not.

Look at it this way, the up and comers that "will own nothing and like it" have bought into it. Cars, homes, software, data, whatever. They don't care.

Ownership is on the way out gents. Keep your powder dry boys.

I've been dealing with a customer who has Fusion for a simple 2 axis lathe.

Basic toolpaths are ok, but the functionality is pretty limited for things like lead ins/lead outs etc. They found it really frustrating for doing some simple turning stuff, but the biggest issue was support. They needed the post tweaked, and asked a few questions, but they struggled. They're new to CNC and someone like this typically needs a bunch of support in the beginning.

I sat with them as they worked through some toolpaths, but I was underwhelmed by the lathe functionality. Sure, it looks pretty capable toolpath wise, but it was some of the finer details that seemed like they were missing.

What's chapter 2? How to sharpen a drill? :hrhr:
How many chapters are there before they get to the software lessons?
