My mortgage including the property tax and insurance doesn't come to $11,000 a year.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Like I said nearly all the benefits but no skin. So he doesn't get to vote. Not legally anyway but that doesn't really stop anyone. anymore.

WTF? He pays into those things so even if he does qualify, by the fact that he pays into them is "skin in the game".

Citizenship IS THE skin.

Quote from: CNCAppsJames on October 27, 2022, 11:23 AMProbably best to stop ASSuming unless you're paying well over $11,000/yr in property taxes. Also it's best to not ASSume "average" wages as well. Too much ASSuming and not enough hard data get you in trouble son.

Woops, you're right! bummer

Quote from: RobertELee on October 27, 2022, 11:29 AMProperty taxes don't work that way kid. Tax amounts go up as home value goes up. Just because someone bought a home 20 years ago doesn't mean taxes are any lower than someone who bought the same value home yesterday.

maybe not in your town you stinky old man.. there are increase limitations in san diego anyway. I just paid my the supplemental tax bill, so I definitely know what people were paying on my house before we bought it, and the house was valued higher than we paid..

Mortgage and property tax together are closer to $40k than $30k... a year. 😲

Soooo as Not an American..

You have devised the code of enforcement for property valuation.

"there are increase limitations in san diego anyway."

You have a supplemental tax evaluation.

"I just paid my the supplemental tax bill,"

As Not an American.

And  "so I definitely know what people were paying on my house before we bought it,"

You own a house in the good old US of A??

"Murrican"??

You can buy a house without being a citizen...

American citizenship also signs you up for a lifetime of taxation regardless of where you live, and I don't plan on living in this country for the rest of my life.

have not read the full thread but from my stand point.
min wage has gone up 50%
my wage should do the same or more. 6 years collage and 37 ojt.
50% times too little is shit at this point cause they owe me back pay but come on. bump me.
At this time in life I would settle for a decent person or three to train to insure things can move behond my work in my little world.

There should be no minimum wage. It amounts to another tax on the products and services we all use every day. You want to see service TO TOTAL shit, institute UBI.

The higher minimum wage goes, the WORSE employee performance gets at jobs traditionally held by the lowest paid people. There's no incentive to move up once the wage hits a certain level. Minimum wage was NEVER intended to be high enough to raise and support a family on.

yeah the industrial revolution was awesome, we need to do away with any kind of restrictions on child labor too, cause that just teaches kids to be lazy

So here's some place I agree with Tyler...I despise what Unions have become, they however did address MANY wrongs in the Industrial revolution era, that simply cannot be understated. What they at this point though is just a joke.

a minimum probably should exist but this notion that is needs to be a living wage is way off base. Child labor laws, we still see companies get nailed for violating current child labor laws. If those were removed, some companies it would not take long for them to have those 14 year old cashiers working til as late as they needed...or we've all seen the shops that "try" to make OT mandatory. Would places like that survive in the "free" market, they shouldn't, we all know though some places will just chew through people to keep trying to make a profit.

While there is a myriad of laws that could be stricken there are also others that need to exist.  Not every boss is a good boss and not every company owner is a benevolent dictator.

The balance is out of whack...but the answer isn't no laws at all.

Your argument is sofa king irrelevant it is just staggering. We are NOT going back to child labor as it existed beforebchildblabor laws existed. NOBODY in the US is Hitler (except Planned Parenthood, THEY ARE doing exactly what Hitler did). We are not going back to owing slaves. Nobody is advocating for personal nuclear weapon ownership... as if more than a tiny handful of people could even afford to own such a device. Your argument is so absurd, I am GLAD you are not going to become a US Citizen. I prefer my citizens to possess at least some some intelligence on mattersbof policy. You have none.
