That makes me think of that part of Ready Player One where the Oasis CEO is telling the board how much of the users VR screen space they can fill with ads before inducing seizures. Just like most of social media, the cons will far outweigh the pros after profit motive takes over. The same goes for 5G. You can do all the streaming you need in high def with 4g. 5G is 100% being pushed for companies to be able to collect and sell an unlimited amount of data about the end user.

I do get out to see and do "Real Stuff", not as much as I'd like to though.  I love to vacation on the gulf coast, or Smoky Mountains (Literally, not virtually).  However, when wanting to play a game, VR games are quite fun.  Maybe I'm still a kid at heart, but I get enjoyment out of it.  I don't want it to sound like I live in my games.  I play them a few times a month, so I'm not anywhere near an avid gamer.  But I do enjoy it when I do play.  You like to shoot your guns.  I don't have any, and probably wouldn't make the time to shoot if I did.  I will on occasion enjoy some games though.  So I own some game systems, some old computer systems, and odd and end electronic gadgets I play with in my spare time.  Everyone has to have their escapes for fun.  Plus, if you haven't tried it, I would think it's not fair to criticize.  If you have, well it's not for everyone.  I for one won't criticize people for their hobbies.

It used to be that 3d movies would give me a headache. It turns out, my eyes don't focus in the same spot in space. I got a prism in one lense and that helped a lot. Now I love 3d movies. I'd like to try a vr headseat.

Yeah you can add big pharma and big agribusiness to the list of industries that put profits above the individual and collective well being of society. Don't get wrong, They are free to make and sell those products if they want. My concern is the revolving door and inseparable influence that those industries have over the FTC, FDA, USDA, etc. They use their influence to suppress info from the public that would hurt their bottom line.

$1.3 million for a Bored Ape NFT

I have no idea what a Bored Ape NFT is or why it should be worth $1.3 million
After reading the article I still don't know. After this week's crash, it's only worth $70k
and I suspect that is wishful thinking.
As near as I can tell, you'd have to be a freakin' idiot to spend $5 on one

It makes perfect sense now..... NOT
It seems like a giant con to me

What Mr. Estavi bought wasn't the tweet itself, but a non-fungible token, or NFT, giving him a certificate of authenticity, license to display the tweet, and whatever bragging rights come along with it.

A friend of mine has a killer VR flight sim setup. REALLY realistic. So much so, he went up and flew with a pilot instructor friend (my friend worked in the design department of our national airline), and the instructor said he was almost a natural.

He uses the VR flight sim a couple of times a week, and doesn't do any other gaming. I've tried it, and it sure is fun, but it is complicated.

I kind of like the idea of flying a P51D and shooting down FW190's though :)
