Wonder why this isn't being broadcast everywhere?

In who's favor?  The Democrats that are fining the shit out of them?  That seems like an odd strategy.

25 million is like fining Tom Brady $50,000.

The first fine was a smack in the pee pee.  The second was to make a point.

QuoteEach violation of the law is typically punishable by up to $10,000, but penalties can be tripled if a judge finds them to be intentional. North fined Meta $30,000 for each of its 822 violations — about $24.7 million. Ferguson described the fine as the largest campaign finance-related penalty ever issued in the U.S.

Pay close attention to the "Ferguson described the fine as the largest campaign finance-related penalty ever issued in the U.S."

They were fined the maximum possible and knowing Ferguson, he would have fined them more if he could have.

THe fine, while it may be the most ever fined, for the left, the juice was still WAY worth the squeeze.

I'm just trying to understand the rationality behind it.  Washington State Democrats, especially in the Seattle area, hate these tech companies.  They would tax them out of business if they could find a way to do it.

Most of the politicians in Seattle are at minimum on the same ideological plane as AOC.

Other than the SJW's who work for Facebook, I can't for the life of me figure out how swaying the election to the left is benefiting them.  I'd almost go as far as to say that I'm surprised that they don't leave Seattle and move to Texas.

Maybe the cynic in me thinks they did it purely for show.

Are you saying that politicians pander?   :D

I would agree with that. And I'm always cynical when it comes to politicians. *But* - remember when Seattle was battling it out over the "Seattle Head Tax" that targeted large business?  Amazon was the face of the movement but *all* of the tech companies were in the cross-hairs.  It got so bad at one point that Amazon discontinued construction on a new Downtown Seattle tower and threatened to leave the City.

The tax was passed but then shortly after, repealed, when these large companies ran a campaign calling the tax a "jobs tax" or "worker tax".  The campaign was effective because they were able to get the labor unions on board. Turned out that halting construction was costing people their jobs.

Yeah. Kinda like a college professor and her husband raking in around $700k a year and then running around crying that students are being crushed by loan debts and blaming the banks for charging interest.

I would NEVER say that politicians pander... if they do, they would definitely only do it on those extraordinarily rare days that end with "y".

Companies large and small are the bellweather for do-gooder politician's acts/policies that create unintended  (presumably) consequences.

If I had 1 wish that could be granted... it would be that people and politicians would stop with the "we've gotta do 'something' about...". Not every crime needs an additional law, not every wrong needs to be righted, not every situation needs a new tax and/or regulation, etc., etc., etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseum. Because every single one of those thigns has 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc... order consequences attached to them and those NEVER EVER even get considered... at least in my 3rd World Bannana Republic shithole of a state.

Right? You just gotta love the righteous indignation of of people like that.

Situations like that are the epitome of the person looking at their neighbor that has scratch and says "you need to fix that", meanwhile, they have a femoral artery bleed and don't even acknowledge it.
