When I was in high school that was the "you're a vagina" hand signal. Does it mean something different now?

You had your hopes up for something they were never trying to accomplish. It seemed obvious after a while, they were not trying to keep McCarthy from being speaker, because they never actually had a guy in mind that they wanted. they were only trying to secure concessions and fix things that they saw as broken.

In some ways, after watching all this unfold, I have to stand back and admire it. A man who wanted to be the speaker of the house never quit trying to do what he set out to do. He never quit negotiating with them to accomplish what had to happen eventually. And on the other hand, you had 20 people holding up 500 people because they had some leverage to do so, in order to get done what they wanted done. Those 20 people were obviously standing up for the beliefs of the people who elected them, based on what people were posting on this forum.

That's the same process that gave birth to the constitution in the first place, and it's been a good one.

And then as JP pointed out, turned around and gave them a rolling brown out (sex drive reference) like the whores that they are.

This just looked like a giant circus to me. None of these guys have principals. I don't see anything to admire in any of them.

Have you read about the changes they got through their negotiations?

There's not...unlike the reference to the founders, these cunts have NO character, not a one of them.  R's, D's, none of them

QuoteHere is a list of key concessions and promises McCarthy and his allies have made over the course of the negotiations, based on CNN reporting:

Any member can call for a motion to vacate the speaker's chair -- this is significant because it would make it much easier than it is currently to trigger what is effectively a no confidence vote in the speaker. Conservatives pushed hard for this, while moderates are worried it will weaken McCarthy's hand.
A McCarthy-aligned super PAC agreed to not play in open Republican primaries in safe seats

The House will hold votes on key conservative bills, including a balanced budget amendment, congressional term limits and border security
Efforts to raise the nation's debt ceiling must be paired with spending cuts. This could become a major issue in the future when it is time to raise the debt limit to avoid a catastrophic default because Democrats in the Senate and the White House would likely oppose demands for spending cuts
Move 12 appropriations bills individually. Instead of passing separate bills to fund government operations, Congress frequently passes a massive year-end spending package known as an "omnibus" that rolls everything into one bill. Conservatives rail against this, arguing that it evades oversight and allows lawmakers to stick in extraneous pet projects.
More Freedom Caucus representation on committees, including the powerful House Rules Committee
Cap discretionary spending at fiscal 2022 levels, which would amount to lower levels for defense and domestic programs
Seventy-two hours to review bills before they come to floor
Give members the ability to offer more amendments on the House floor
Create an investigative committee to probe the "weaponization" of the federal government
Restore the Holman rule, which can be used to reduce the salary of government officials

well, I wasn't hoping for burning buildings, but yes. There are some key points in there that have irked me for a while. that I'm glad to see. as an example, this whole deal with putting bills to a vote with out members even having a chance to read them, that the Democrats have been doing has now been improved. A vote has to wait a minimum of 72 hours after a bill has been written for time to review. that's just one example.  Having 5 freedom caucus members on the rules committee is a big deal.

Of course that's not flaming buildings if that's what you were after, but for those of us who kind of like America and don't want to scrap it, it's pretty cool.

yes. The Rules committee decides on which rules can be suspended and which can not and when. thus the importance of having a majority of Freedom Caucus members on the Rules Committee.
