Does anyone have a ballpark price on this? We're looking for a 5 axis vmc.
Maybe @CNCAppsJames?
If I had to guess, it goes for $350k new?

Depends.... I know guys hate to hear that but that's the reality. Probe and Tool Measurement system, Chip Conveyor, High Pressure Coolant System, Single Pallet, 10 Pallet, 60 Tools, 90 Tools?

It can range from $325k-ish and goes up from there.

EVERY US Matsuura 5-Axis has Dataserver, 8MB CNC_MEM, 999 Tool Offsets, 306 Work Offsets, and all these functions.

Thanks James!

The one we're looking at doesn't have a pallet pool. I'm not sure we would need one, but it would be nice to have.

Are you considering an Okuma Genos M460-5AX or 560-5AX? Awesome 5 axis for sure.

I'd love one, but my boss is the man with the wallet. Best I can do is give my recommendations. Which he does value. I think the price on the Matsuura is too good to pass up. But you never know.

Did you get a quote on a M460-5AX? The last time we quoted one mid last year it was in that same price range. We bought our first one for even less than that in the beginning of 2020.

We haven't gotten a legit quote, but we know it's in that ballpark as far as price goes.
It all depends on what my cheap ass boss wants to spend.

IMO, you have Genos M560 and know that it is a value producer. The M460 is the same machine with a trunnion. You can expect the same value.

They have the M560-5ax now, a little larger machining volume and table. And I'm sure quite a bit larger price tag. Probably upwards of $450k.

I've never really gave Matsuura a look before, they're growing on me.

IMO, Matsuura is an A game 5 axis machine. We are preferential to Okuma because of my history with them and the way we integrate our automation. However if we were to look to another brand 5x machine, Matsuura would be my first choice. If I felt like DMG could provide support here I would look at them as well, but their support in MN sucks.

DMG is NOT in the same league as Matsuura or Okuma build quality-wise. It just isn't.

The more trash @YoDoug talks about FANUC, the more I get under the hood and the less I hear "FANUC can't...". RARELY is it a case of "can't" it's nearly always a case of most people just don't know how or the machine was improperly optioned; - DEFINITELY not the case of a Matsuura since they dumped Methods... options haven't been a problem since Matsuura USA began.

So what you are saying is, it's not that Fanuc isn't capable, it's just overly complicated. If only there was a powerful and easy to use control that you don't need to find the one "expert" from the builder or dealer network because no one else knows how.........

Here's Johnny!
