This is probably some of the dumbest waste of time crap I've heard in a while, but is a great example of how dysfunctional our government has become.

It's also kinda funny and sad at the same time.

QuoteWhile it does not mention the Democratic party's name, it would direct the Florida Division of Elections to "immediately cancel the filings of a political party, to include its registration and approved status as a political party, if the party's platform has previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude."

Southern Democrats advocated for slavery during the Civil War.

Under the Bill, registered Democrats would be automatically re-registered as having "no party affiliation." The Democratic party officers could reorganize, but only under a substantially different name.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

But the Dems feel there is no limit to how far back they can look to cancel someone, there are R's that are getting cancelled because of their ancestors. Shouldn't cancel culture apply equally?

What do you mean by "cancelled".  They make a bunch of Democrats, who already hate them, hate them more?

The Dems have gone so far as to look at what peoples distant relative did and use it to cancel them. Do you not see the irony here. This law would cancel their Dem party registration because they were the historical party of slavery and racism.

That was kinda my point.

With the exception of someone like George Santos, who lied about literally everything and still isn't technically "cancelled", can't possibly be disliked more by the other side than they already are.  At the same time, you're not going to convince a Republican voter not to support a Republican no matter what their past (or present) is. I'm not sure that "cancelled" necessarily applies to politics.

The Republicans are constantly calling the Democrats the party of the KKK. What's the difference?  That it hasn't been working?

It's broken, and I don't know how we fix it at this point...

It seems we're heading for a cliff and there's little that can be accomplished to avoid going over...we have been driven here by partisan politics from nearly all the players.

That's not true.
George Bush I & II both sucked. (even though I'm not Republican)

So then you voted for the Democrat(s) that ran against them? Or voted 3rd party? Or not at all?

Sadly I voted for both of them. :-[ I was a Republican at that time.
