Incorrect datum set (X,Y or Z or all 3?)
Incorrect tool lengths being set?
Incorrect wear comp being applied?
Are the fixtures all roughly same size?
Can you bush the table so the fixtures repeat every set up and put datums in the prog - the probe would then be very close?
Do you have 1x master.prog for that part - and only keep one prog in the control at a time?
Just spitballing

In all reality, the loss of Machinists and the replacement with operators.  Like almost daily someone forgets to update a datum or something similar.
I've been writing work instructions for every part we make, but we need more bulletproofing.  We have some dedicated fixturing but Sometimes have to juggle machines due to scheduling.
We've lost three Machinists in the past two months.

I can see a lot of uses for this.

Down here, probes aren't used enough by manufacturing companies. I need to help them embrace the processes :)
With some of our castings we  probe up to 10 different work offsets per part due to engineering wanting us to hold ±.005" (.127mm) on ±.030" (.762mm) casting tolerances. We also probe inspect some parts that we can't remove and reload.

Bottom line is there is ALL kinds of things you can accomplish with probes....

Sit down, write a list of what you'd like to see accomplished...from there, you can make a plan.

Once you have that, you can address what you might need to move it forward, for the most part, the probe programming is the simple part. It's the trying tocome up with exactly what and how you want to check things that is more in depth.
