So,..... you read the article about Io! Great! (In the movie sequel Space Odyssey:2010, there's a scene where they're on Io. They have to cross a volcano to get to their spaceship. Perilous and fraught with dangers...)

The biggest problem I have with buying a Tesla is the cost. I currently own 4 cars. their total value is probably in the $25,000 range. We tend to buy lower cost vehicles for $5k to $10K cash and we only buy a more expensive for the one car that we deem our road trip worthy vehicle. My wife travels from MN to eastern TN 4-6 times a year to help her elderly parents. It is a 15 hour drive and she usually does it in one straight shot with a few rest stops. Having to stop every 2-3 hours for 45 minutes at a supercharger to charge a Tesla is unrealistic. For that reason I can't justify the cost. When they can get the range up to 500-600 miles I could consider it

Personally, my interest is less than zero.
My friend's wife hates theirs.. She said it drives "weird". I have no idea what that means.

He had already bought it. Just took me and wife for a ride

Quote from: RobertELee on April 20, 2023, 07:32 AMDo you expect every single thing to happen perfect the first time? With experiment, come failures, and each failure comes with learning new things. I fully expected something to happen such as this. And this rocket was never going to survive anyway. If it had made its full mission it would have splashed down and destroyed near Hawaii.

I've ridden in a customer's Plaid. The acceleration in "Ridiculous" mode or whatever it's called is eye watering.

It wasn't a bad vehicle. Quiet inside while driving around. Only wind and road noise to be heard.

That said, I'll never own an electric vehicle. I iRobot showed me all I needed to see with regard tl that. No thanks. Ride around with somebody that has dirt on Killary and that could be the end of the. No thanks.

An image of the launchpad afterwards. Concrete literally stripped away.

And here's a good breakdown of everything that happened

Typical under thinking and over confidence by that group. How in the world does anyone not understand force dynamics and erosional effects of exhaust from a rocket that is a rocker company? Reminds me when they lost a capsule load because in all their arrogance and confidence they tested everything for reentry for the capsule to launch the parachutes. Guess what they forgot to think about? They didn't write the software to deploy during a launch. Had they then they might have saved a $100 million load. It is already they put plenty of companies out of business not paying them or expecting them to float them with 180 day terms so all good because Elon is so cool.

Didn't the Saturn launchpad also start blasting massive streams of water into the blast zone just before liftoff

It's easy to monday morning quarterback. I saw that the decision not to deal with exhaust goes back to a 2020 Elon tweet. Now that's a special kind of stupid, way beyond Thiokol gaskets.

With the kind of damage we're seeing to the launch pad,
it's very likely that is the reason 5 engines failed.
They may have been damaged by debris from the disintegrating launch pad
