Example - real life story

Years ago I was cruising up I-15 here in Utah. Busy traffic, the usual. The guy in front of me slammed on his brakes. I slammed on my brakes, and barely missed the guy in front of me. The girl diving the van behind me wasn't as quick - and smashed into me at interstate speeds. Fortunately there were no serious injuries.

Unfortunately she was here illegally. No drivers license, no insurance, no registration on the piece of shit that she was driving. Cop wanted to take her to jail, but apparently his dispatch wouldn't let him.

So she gets cited for no drivers license, no insurance, van gets towed away. Thing is because she had no real identification, she never had to show up to court or pay the citations. There was no way of tracking her down to get her to court. So a get out of jail free card for her.

Me? I was stuck with the insurance deducible and the headache of fixing my truck. And a few years down the road I go to sell the truck and it now has a CarFax history of being in a accident. Between the insurance and repair and the losing of value on the truck I figure I was out $5000.

Don't think for one second mine is an isolated case. This happens very often. Had someone with proper documentation (a US citizen or legal alien) ass ended me & got all those citations they would of had to pay. Illegals can break the law with no consequences.

I have uninsured driver's insurance just for issues like yours and I've had to use it once. There was no deductable attached.

My incident was when i purchased it. Thought I had full coverage until that happened.

I have full coverage but uninsured insurance is extra.

It's worth it down here.

We have lots of Messicans in the area that work the trailer factories and plenty of white trash, meth head tweakers. For some reason having car insurance isn't a high priority to either.

The last wreck  I had, a young woman made a U turn right in front of me and I t-boned her.
She drove off, passed out at a street light a couple of miles away and told the cops she's been
the victim of a hit and run. The cops grilled me pretty hard, but there were some people in a house who
saw the whole thing and told the cops what happened.
I had to pay the regular deductible and my uninsured motorist coverage fixed the car.
About 6 months later I got it back as my insurance company tracked the young woman down, she fess'ed up
and her insurance reimbursed me.

I did have uninsured driver - but my insurance company made me pay the deductible. The biggest hit was losing 25% of the value of the truck because it had been in a crash. And the damage was minor. Receiver hitch & bumper took the worst of the damage.

Here is Cali you have to show proof of insurance to get a driver's license
and illegals can get a license.
There are hundred of little insurance shops in strip malls that sell policies by the month.
So people buy a month's worth of insurance, present it to the DMV, get a license and let the policy expire.
Hit and runs are the norm now days..I've read the 40% of all accidents involve uninsured drivers.
That just means our policies cost more because the people who carry real insurance are paying for the wrecks of uninsured drivers.

Didn't say that - just said it wasn't a state of emergency in our city.

Again terrible, but not what was being talked about in this context of the southern border
