My very first machining job, one of our bigger cutomers was PMC. We used to make the bases and other fab/weldments for their machines, pic below. I used to have use the crane to flip big parts all the time before loading them into the big HBM. I can't believe those guys in that video did not see that coming. Horrible lift points and way off center of balance.

Yeah, I used to build die-cast molds and some of the mold bases weighed more than 5tons. Knowing the exact pick point on them to flip was crucial and they were pretty square and even, but still made the pucker factor sky high.

I've also moved big machines with 10-20k lb forklifts and knowing how to balance everything just moving them across the floor took time to figure out.

These guys were in too much of a hurry.

Wonder where that piece is now.

Riggers make it look so easy, it's unsurprizing people try moving things themselves.

I'm guilty of being one of those people, albeit with more success than the video posted.

My wife worked at a place that made cardboard boxes years ago.
They bought a new printing press and the owner brow beat the foreman into unloading from the semi
with a pair of fork lifts.
The foreman told him it was a bad idea, but the owner got ugly about it so he gave it a shot
When the dust settled the foreman was a bloody bag of bones about 2" tall.
The poor guy's wife wound up a rich widow.
