My troponin levels were elevated; that's one reason they were worried.

There are multiple conditions that can cause elevated levels. I would definitely get checked out by a cardiologist.

"What are Normal Troponin Levels? Context is Everything
A clinical conundrum occurs when troponin is nonspecifically elevated, and there is a long list of conditions that can elevate hs-troponin in the absence of an acute coronary syndrome, including:

Anemia
Ventricular tachycardia
Heart failure
Kidney disease
Hypotension/shock
Pulmonary embolism
Myocarditis
Hypoxemia"

Del,. I hope all goes well.

I know you had said you were leaning towards a different kind of surgery, whichever way, I hope it gives you some relief.

As you can also well attest to, this isn't something, diet, exercise and stretching are going to help.

Good Luck!!!

My neurosurgeon thought the other type of surgery was a scam so I'll be having same kind as you.

What was your recovery experience?

Yeah I wasn't sure, I had never heard of it but as I am not a physician, I wasn't going to question it.

As far as recovery, here's how mine went....

Day of surgery, Thusrday....Mine was done in a day surgery unit. I woke up after it, cleared my head, nurse helped me dress with my socks, I couldn't move enough to reach them. Pain level at that point was low. I got home, and sat in my recliner. I was up several times as I started walking around that house as I could tolerate. A big key is to move afterwards. I went upstairs to sleep...no problem going up the stairs..sleep was spotty but I definitely did sleep.

Friday, absolutely my worst day, by far, hurting, sore and after the fact, I think it was possible I was over medicated. I stuck to the instructions give but the valium & oxycodone were a potent combination. Friday I had to go back to the doctor, they had put a drain in and wanted to remove it. That done, it was back home. I walked that day but less then Thursday...again, upstairs to sleep in bed...this night I could not sleep. Tossed & turned, finally got up at 4am as trying to sleep was pointless....

Saturday morning, Again, wondering if I am over medicated, I decided to take 2 Tylenol and abstain from the two heavier pain killers...as the day wore on, taking Tylenol every 4 hours, but late afternoon I was feeling much, much better. The pain level was negligible, at best. I slept well Saturday night.

Sunday morning I got up and was easily feeling the best I had in a couple days. Still just taking Tylenol. I started walking again, I think the 1st day was like 600 steps. All else was pretty normal....

As the week wore on I was walking more & more day by day and by the middle of the week I had stretched the Tylenol out to 6 hours and by Saturday, I was off of them completely.

It took me about 7 days and I was walking 1-1/2 miles and kept building from there.

Considering all the work done, and really only having what I would term as, one bad day, the recovery afterward went very well.
