Friend of mine is a corrections officer. He's rather go toe to toe with a 6'-4" guy because they get tired fast and you can pin those long arms, easier.

Stepson goes mid-200's, 6' 5" and a black belt...that'd be fun to watch

I have been working on some of my Judo throws during open training time at BJJ. I really think Judo is probably one of the most realistic self defense tools to have. You don't want to stand and trade blows with someone you don't know. That is like playing Russian roulette. All it takes is wrong hit and you are down. Likewise taking it to the ground for BJJ is not always good either. In a strict one v one it is probably ok but you don't want to be on the ground when their friends decide to step in. On the other hand, you pull off a good seoi nage or other shoulder throw and let them hit the ground hard, they will be rethinking their plans when you let them up.

Or at the very least it will give you a chance to run like hell while he is trying to get his lungs re-inflated...

From my admittedly limited knowledge, judo practice involves the active and submissive partner to execute the moves. If a #250lb dude actually resists...It just aint gonna happen.

Taekwondo, Karate, Aikido, and other Bullshido arts are one thing, but a Judo or BJJ black belt is whole other level. The main instructor where I train is a 150 lb black belt in BJJ, I see him regularly handle lowers belts with 100lbs weight advantages so easily he looks bored while doing. The technique level of black belts is insane. They can capitalize on the slightest of space/leverage/resistance/etc. Will a Judo black belt be able to perform every Judo throw on a 2x+ larger person, probably not, but they so many techniques and variations that an untrained or even novice opponent is going down.

I have lots of white Belts and the Robes and Towels to go with them.

Needless to say I am "Persona Non Grata" at those Hotels.
