December 7, 1941

On Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese military initiated a surprise attack on the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The attack resulted in the deaths of thousands of service members and civilians, over a thousand injuries, the sinking of American ships and destruction of aircraft.

Admiral Kimmel who was in charge of Pacific fleet is from my town. They have a statue of him on the riverfront. He was later cleared of all charges.

There couldn't be many military veterans from Pearl Harbor alive. They would be at least 100 yrs old.

The survivors ste between 97 and 102 and you're right. Not many left at all. There's only around 120,000 WWII Vets still alive today. I read somewhere that around 130 die each day. Doing the math, they'll all be gone in under 3 years.
