Would I be off base if I were to ask if we could start a thread that has James's Fanuc threads inside of it and pinned for easy reference? James, I appreciate the information you share and I'm sure others do also. I've found myself coming back to them time after time. How you remember all of that information is incredible to me and priceless. Is this something a moderator could possibly do?

Just thought I'd throw this out there, if not I'm fine with that as I know I can search for them also.

Thanks again
Brad

1) I have probably close to 90% of the FANUC manuals in electronic form so really it's like cheating. . 2) The vast majority of the answers to the questions most people have  are found in 3 or 4 of them (for the respective Control Series). The " Common to Lathe System/Machining Center System OPERATOR'S MANUAL" , the "Parameter Manual", " Lathe System OPERATOR'S MANUAL", " Machining Center System OPERATOR'S MANUAL " and the " Fast Ethernet/Fast Data Server OPERATOR'S MANUAL "... I have these manuals for 0i-A through 0i-F, 15/16/18 Series B and C, 15i/16i/18i Series B and C and all the 30i Series up to the latest. Over 20GB worth of manuals.

How I "remember" stuff really is to just remember what's "there" or available in the control. There's probably only a few parameters I know off the top of my head and those are the ones I work with almost daily or at the very least every time I do new machine training. Also, believe it or not, the FANUC control is fairly logical in a number of ways. If we're looking for the control to function a certain way then we look at the function we want to control. Say for example I don;t like the way a drilling cycle works (on a machining center) because I just got a RAH and want to use canned cycles on different sides of the part. So in the parameter manual there is a "Parameters of Canned Cycles" section so I would go to that section of parameters and look for the setting that controls my ability to allow me to set the axis based on plane (G17/G18/G19).

Glad to be of assistance to the industry in any way I can.
