Every year at about this time, Harrison Ford comes to Wichita to get his plane serviced at Cessna. The local paper keeps track of where he goes, mostly restaurants. He'll be here for a few days. I'm sure coming here is the highlight of his year.

Is there an age limit for a private license?

How are you containing your excitement? Hopefully you're wearing your Indiana Jones hat and whip?

We have frequent 'star' sightings around here because of Mayo Clinic. Last year LeBron James was here for a couple weeks because of his son's heart issues. The frenzy that caused was insane.

I've heard it mentioned that he was at a restaurant with his pilot, so, I'm guessing he doesn't fly his Citation business jet.

We have a celebrity or 2 come to our town once in a while. just to sing at the county fair. They always leave quickly afterwards, except for George Jones who actually left "during" rather than after the show.

I have a nephew who lives and works right on Ventura Boulevard in the heart of LaLa Land.
He has a favorite little sports bar down the street that he likes to go and watch the Kings, Lakers, and Dodgers games. (but he mostly likes the Kings  )

Anyway he said one day he is sitting there having a beer and watching a Kings game, and who walks in wearing sweats, a ballcap, and sunglasses but Brad Pitt.

He orders a beer, sits at a table in the corner, and starts watching the game.
You could tell he is on the DL, but a couple of ladies in the bar recognize him and go over to talk to him.
My nephew says he is actually a very nice guy in person, so those ladies ask him if they could take some selfies with him, and he agrees.
After that, he gets back to his beer and his hockey game and just tries to avoid as many people as he can.

I honestly think many celebrities are just normal people who want to go out for a beer once in a while without people mobbing them.

I lived next to the city where Kevin Costner lived when I was a senior in High School (late 80's). I worked in a store where his 1st wife Cindy came into quite often. I never spoke to her but a few of our staff were friends with her. Anyway I overheard our staff talking about their marriage (Kevin and Cindy Costner) being in trouble. Within a few weeks of overhearing that a few friends and I were shooting hoops at the local park... playing around the world or HORSE I think.

Kevin Costner walks up. Asks us if he can join us. I immediately recognize him. My friends do not. I don't give my friends the heads up who he is, and he joins us for probably an hour or so. Anyway, he says thanks and goes on his way. After he was gone I told my friends who he was. They were pissed I didn't say anything. I told them "he just needed to be a regular dude for a minute so STFU."

He was super cool. His life was getting messy and probably just needed to clear his head. Who knows. Who cares. He's always been one of my favorite actors, politics aside.

Growing up in SoCal, it wasn't unusual to recognizable people. My mom drilled it into me to leave them alone if you see them in public so I maintained that and have continued to do so.

Muhammad Ali lived in the town we lived in (Berien Springs MI). He would cruise around the town on his Honda without a helmet (helmet law back then). Sticking out fist and make boxing moves would warrant a stop and talk session 8). He was a great guy.

Back in the late 90's, a buddy of mine worked for the Connecticut Highway Department.
One time they were on a job site out in the country outside of Hartford working on a bridge repair.

There was a little bar / restaurant down the road where the guys working on the bridge project were stopping for lunch most days.

That's where he met retired former WWF wrestler and manager 'Captain' Lou Albano.

He said Lou had a farm nearby and he would pretty regularly drive his tractor over to the bar to get a beer and a sammich at lunch time. He always wore bib overalls with no shirt, work boots, straw hat, and his trademark rubber band around his beard. He always bought a round of drinks for everyone in the place, finished his lunch, then hopped back on his tractor and got back to whatever he was doing over at the farm.

He said the funniest part is that his persona of the 'Captain' was this loud, brash, bigger-than-life guy, but in reality he was just a regular guy, even a little on the quiet side.
