John Barnett was supposed to answer questions on Saturday as part of a deposition he'd been giving earlier last week related to a legal dispute with his former employer Boeing—which has been dogged by safety concerns, some of which he had raised. But he didn't show up.

When his legal team called him repeatedly to no avail, they eventually asked the hotel he was staying at to check in on him. That's when Barnett was found dead in his truck in the parking lot.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office told media that Barnett died from "what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," and that the Charleston Police Department is continuing to investigate the death.

Unsurprising, but nonetheless shocking.

Imagine calling a hit on someone who dedicated 3 decades to your company, and is looking out for the public's safety. Will anyone care in a week? I hope so, but probably not. It becomes more clear each day that the financial/political elite literally and figuratively do not value human life. We're all just externalities and revenue streams to be counted.

We need to peel back the veneer and reveal the class warfare that is pulsing through our world. But hey, at least I can get cheap Chinese shit delivered to my door in 1 hour, so there's an upside to all this in the end if you look hard enough...

I don't believe men of strong convictions and purpose, such as the balls to stand up to Boeing, are the type to succumb to suicide without severe outside pressure (threats to family come to mind). Especially near the moment when they are able to act to fulfill said purpose. Pretty widely known that the "home gym tradgedy" and the "self-inflicted" are barely ever the case with something high profile like this. Sad all the same, for more reason than one.
