I just listened to a couple of their songs. They remind me of early Judas Priest (before British Steel) or Iron Maiden.

No that's not my cup of tea either.

I said I do like classic country like Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, etc...
And I also do like Darius Rucker's country music and his work with Hootie and the Blowfish.

I can even listen to anything from classical (Beethoven, Mozart, etc.) to jazz, to hip-hop, or R&B.

The only kind of music I really DON'T like is the stuff where they scream and mumble the lyrics because it sounds like a foreign language to me.

I thought of Judas Priest too but I didn't post it.
Great minds think alike!

Quote from: JakeL on March 20, 2024, 10:12 AMThat's where my line gets drawn. I'll listen to almost anything but if I can't understand the words I usually don't like it.

I never paid much attention to what the lyrics actually said. In the 70s, if you could understand them, half the time they didn't make any sense (Hotel California anyone?). I saw a reaction video to Am I Evil, the Diamond Head version. They were all set to get into they lyrics when on of them read an interview where the songwriter said "I don't know what it means, it just sounds cool". The real test was how it sounded when you were really, really high. This was always my favorite for that:

That's probably me favorite metal recording ever.

That's one of the few covered metal songs that sounds good by the OG and the cover.

The original Breadfan by Budgie isn't bad either.

It's not but Metallica's cover blows it away. Same with Am I Evil? which is in my opinion one of the best cover songs ever, in the history of mankind.

I think so too. Budgie also has a lot of great songs other than Breadfan.

Am I Evil greatest song in the history of man kind? :D  Are you sure?

I said it's one of the best COVER songs.  Comparing it to the original which is flaccid 70's acid rock.

I like both versions; I think Metallica's cover is heavier. Garage, Inc is great. I liked every song on there except for Tuesday's Gone. (I think it was on that album.)

I think their merciful fate cover is better. Just my opinion.  It's not better than the original(s).  If you're not a merciful fate fan it might not be up your alley.

Some times I think Metallicas cover songs are better than their originals.    ;D

Their version of "Die, Die My Darling" is way better than the original.

Almost that entire Garage Inc album is awesome.
I don't like the Turn the Page cover. Seger's live version is the best and it's blasphemous to try and cover that.
Tuesday's Gone cover = meh
Whiskey in the Jar = meh (not a big Thin Lizzy fan)
Loverman = meh
