Hell, We gave up 10 threes to one guy.

Same thing happened to Marquette as Arizona.
The 3's just weren't dropping for them like they usually do, and it ended up hurting them.  :wallbash:

I was pleasantly surprised to see Duke get past Houston, but then they also ran into that red hot NC State crew.
Those guys are playing lights-out and having a great tournament run.

I'm hoping Purdue will take care of business on Saturday, but I won't be surprised at all if NC State makes it to the final.

Congratulations to the University of Alabama on their first ever trip to the Final Four!

Do I think we'll win it all?  Not a prayer lol

If they hit 16 threes again they have a good chance.

Purdue and UCONN look formidable. NC State on a magical run. Alabama is an offensive machine.

Since I suck at picking winners, I have no clue who wins.

Next year my bracket will be to pick zero winners

Until proven otherwise, I assume my Boilermakers will choke.

A loss to NC State would be a choke in my book.

Same for Alabama.

But a loss to UConn, as long as they are competitive, I can forgive.

This weekend Minnesota State Mankato won the Women's D2 National Championship and the Men's D2 National Championship.

Kinda fun when you're a Minnysotan.

NC State is definitely red hot and clicking in all facets of the game.

They have taken down some very good teams, but the question is how long the magic will last.

On paper, Purdue should run them out of the gym, but that can also be said about Texas Tech, Marquette, and Duke.

But that's why they play the games on the court and not on paper!!   8)

Definitely the 2 best teams left. UCONN looks tough to beat.

I don't know why I thought Illinois could take out UConn, but I gave it a shot.

Should be a great championship game...

Illinois had a really good team.

Calipari leaving UK for Arkansas

I knew he couldn't survive after this last loss.

It was time for him to leave

I'm sure he will take most of his recuits with him.

I look for Bruce Pearl or Nate Oats to replace him.

Rick Pitino return

Calipari had a good run there in Kentucky, but yeah, it's time to move on.

Also, the game has changed to the point where the elite players no longer want to wait the four years to polish their skills at the NCAA level, but want the big NBA money sooner. So because of that, coaches like Calipari (and others) have been basing their recruiting strategies on that quick-turnaround principle rather than sustaining their programs with kids who will develop and play all four years, and then graduate.

We just saw that this weekend when LeBron's son declared for the NBA draft, and also entered the transfer portal after just one season at USC.

Not sure if he is 'NBA-ready' yet, but if a team wants to take a chance on signing him based on his potential, I would be willing to bet he never sets foot in another college classroom.

And good on him if he can be successful in the NBA, but MOST kids don't have the safety net of having a dad who is also a fabulously wealthy NBA superstar in his own right.

Bronny James will never 'need' a college degree to get by in life, but the vast majority of college basketball players do, and seeing them forgo their education and taking a gamble on an NBA career is always disheartening IMO.

Anyway I hope Kentucky can rebuild under a new coach and get back to being "that team nobody wants to play" in the Tournament.

I'm really surprised Calipari agreed to move on without forcing the $33 mil buyout clause, but it does sound like he wore out his welcome and maybe just accepted that. No doubt he's one of the great recruiters of all time. All of his teams had great talent. Having said that, having great talent obviously doesn't always create a great team with great team play.

At least a few of his teams were really great though. The team that beat KU for the championship was a fantastic team. I thought the team that lost to Wisconsin in the final four was a fantastic team too. The Memphis team that lost to KU in the championship was great.

It will be interesting to see how he fares at Arkansas. I'm pretty sure they're going to have great talent at the very least! :)

It was fun to see NC State go to the final four. I hadn't seen them play this year and the first time I saw DJ Burns I had to chuckle. I thought "no way that big fkr is gonna play meaningful minutes!" But I was sure wrong about that. It was a great story and fun to watch. But...275 pounds my ass. I'd say more like 350 for a man that tall to be that round!

On to tonight's game....the best 2 teams made it. Purdue has the best player with a very good supporting cast. Connecticut has (IMO) the best team from top to bottom and a very good center of their own. Seeing Edey going against Clingan will be very entertaining.

I like both teams. Purdue winning their first national title would be great. UConn winning two in a row would be historic. I just hope for a great game, and I think we'll get it!

I think UK will struggle a couple years because I think all or most recruits will follow Cal.
He was a good man. Got players with character. He just cared more for getting them to NBA than winning championships.
Kentucky is a tough place to coach. We expect to be in Final Four EVERY year
But he has underachieved for the talent he has had. The last 5 years I saw a pattern I didn't like. There were times it looked like we had no idea what we were doing on offense and teams just drove to basket with ease. We lost 3 straight games at home this year. 4 all together. That is unacceptable at Kentucky.
