what machines will you be programming with it??
I'm curious to see what you think of it.
I've seen amazing things done with hyperMill, but it makes me feel dumber than a box of rocks

I've been told it is very good with 5 axis. I have recently been dealing with a customer that had used it for about ten years. They had good things to say about it.

It will be interesting to see how you find it.

Hope you like european controlled machines... they are about to enter the building too.

One thing I really like about hyperMill
We bought it in 2013 and the post I received then still works, 11 versions later
with no updates required.

So far, good things Mastercam don't have. A lot of automated things in toolpaths. We have 10 DMG DMU 50 machines,
Half Siemens, Half Fanuc, 2 Mazak 500 variaxis and 1 730. 1 guy in the shop is 6 months into using it and I've been impressed with what he is able to do. Next version rolls out next month with some really cool stuff, Machine sim is auwsome along with tool library's and much more. They make full 5 axis as simple as 3+2.

I've always found tool building in hyperMill really cumbersome.
We've had it here since 2013 and I use it for one toolpath.
I use Shape Offset Roughing to rough the vanes we build and it works well.
The training I got in 2013 was not good.
We spent 4 1/2 days on CAD and 1/2 a day on CAM.
Then with the next release the third party CAD they used back then shut down
and hyperMill has had to build their own CAD on the fly.

When we bought hyperMill in 2013, CAD was a 3rd party plugin from an Italian firm called Think3
or something like that.
It did not support solids but had some really powerful surface tools.

Hypermill got caught flat footed when Think3 bellied up and they had to come up with their own cad from a clean sheet of paper in a hurry.  The Think3 plug in still worked, but it was not being updated.
It may still work to this day.
The current Cad in hyperMIll is OK, but my brain and muscle memory are 100% Mastercam and I struggle
with it. I do any serious work CAD work in Mastercam and STEP it into hyperMill.

I know what you mean. When I first started using TopSolid, I was Mastercam conditioned, and tried to use it the same way. I clicked not long after that I needed to clean slate, so I started from scratch with the tutorials, and it quickly became second nature. Now the roles are reversed, and I try to right click entities whenever I use Mastercam :)

I recall seeing Think3 somewhere years ago. Someone local had it, and they were pretty proficient at it from memory.

The Cad side of Hyper seems pretty powerful, second day in and I'm already frustrated. Toolpaths are very simular but much less mouse ckicks in Hyper. Linking and gouge are automatic so no 20 pages of linking parameters. I gave him a 5 axis 3+2 roughing op I programmed in MC. 7 ops to do it. he replicated it in 2 ops in Hyper, that was interesting you can link multi tool plane 3+2 tool plane into 1 in Hyper

to be honest, efem. we have 2 more shops, 1 in fort collins C. and 1 in Cody W. All using MC. My seat is still active and that is what I'm going to use to get shit done. 5 years 2 go

After using it for one roughing toolpath all these years, I'd love to get a couple of weeks of one on one training.
but
I'll be 70 this year, retirement is coming, and 2 weeks of hyperMill training would not be a good investment
for me, or my employer.
