We are using Mastercam 2024, Update 4. When we open Verisurf, there is a tray icon saying that there is a Mastercam update available (Update 5). When we run through the setup, it eventually fails at the end with this message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Mastercam_Installer.msi' in the box below.

The path it's looking for is 'C:\Users\<local_admin>\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\mastercam\Mastercam_Installer.msi'

It's not a network resource. I have tried running as admin, and either way it prompts me for admin credentials since the user that is attempting to do the update is not a local admin.

You might want to re-download the Update 5 file for the Mastercam website...the one you have may be corrupt...

ALso, if the user downloads it to their desktop, make sure to right click >> properties and unblock the download...

If Mastercam is shutdown, the update should run fine with proper Admin level access.

We re-downloaded it from the Mastercam website like you suggested, but still got stuck in the same place.
This time a different error after I click Cancel though, it says:
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product Mastercam 2024. The Windows Installer cannot continue.

This one might require the assistance of your reseller...

If I were still doing Mastercam support and I was connected to the system, I think I know what I would do but not being in that circumstance, I am going to defer to someone that can get in locally...

I have the same issue and no one can figure it out.  I am just wondering if the computer / laptop is a Lenovo.  I have three Dells and two Lenovo's.  Only the Lenovo's do this every time I upgrade or try and remove a Mastercam installation.

Welcome to the forum.

When you download and run an  install file it writes the iso msi file to your PC.
Usually here
 'C:\Users\<local_admin>\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\mastercam\Mastercam_Installer.msi'

Later on when you run an update, the update needs the old MSI file as well as the update patch.
In your case, that file is gone, probably because the Temp folder was cleaned,
The simplest solution is to uninstall MC2024 and reinstall it up to Update 4, then apply the Update 5 patch.

If your maintenance was still valid on 02/29/24, uninstall MC2024, download MC2024 Update 6 Full Install,
run that and call it a day.

This is the correct answer, both in how this situation occurs and how to resolve it.  :)
