Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day.
Mrs Gcode and I didn't do much.
I got up at dawn, and put up our flags, The Stars and Stipes and Eagle Globe and Anchor.
I spent a couple of hours puzzling out a particularly troublesome toolpath
and we watched a few episodes of an old favorite, an BBC series, Poldark.
I was going to watch Mel Gibson's We Were Soldiers, in honor of 60K men and women who didn't come home from  Vietnam but I couldn't find the CD.
I was disappointed to see we were the only house out of 17 on my cull de sac flying a flag today.

Lots of flags in my area...

I flew a 13 Star, 13 Strip Flag or a 15 star 15 strip flag the last 5-6 years because I hated the people running The People's Republik of Kommieforniastan at such a visceral level, it was the only socially acceptable I could come up with that my found barely palatable.

I honestly wanted to fly those flags upside down.... wife wasn't down for that cause.

In our new house in Utah, I fly the standard flag again except on 4th of July and Flag Day. I'll fly 13 Star, 13 Strip Flag or a 15 star 15 strip flag like my Grandpa did on those days.

I had to travel for business today. Had lunch at home with the family, then off to Idaho.

Had a yearly meetup with a social group. We had a little memorial setup for one of the couple's sons who didn't come home from Afghanistan. They didn't show up to this year's event. Not sure if it was a pain thing or just getting older thing. Guy's been through the ringer with surgeries.
I can't imagine losing a child like that.. or at all.

GREAT MOVIE!  SAD that more people can't show respect for those that lost their lives protecting their FREEDOM!

I have a 20 foot flagpole. Wind broke it about a month ago. I ordered a 4 ft round aluminum pipe 3inches in diameter and fixed it by putting it in the inside diameter of section still concreted in ground and now it's more sturdy than ever. I flew it half staff until noon yesterday as was called for to honor those soldiers who were killed and then raised it back up to honor all who had served.

Took the tiny terrorist to their first Memorial Day parade.

This kid loves him some Murrica and fire trucks. Not necessarily in that order.

I can't watch We Were Soldiers. Not because I get emotional but because Mel Gibson is, perhaps, the worst actor in the world. Only Dennis Quaid could possibly exceed him in this category.
