Just am curious as to what others are using for background colors. For years (ok since V3.1 or V4) I have been using the old standard black background. Even on the newer versions the first thing I did was change it to all black. Recently I have forced myself to start using the default gradient background....dark grey on top of the screen to a lighter (almost white) color on the bottom of the screen. Gotta say it is much easier on my eyes, especially in verify. Or it could be me just wanting to look at something different.

So, like I said...just curious as to what others are using.

I used a black background for the longest time because that was what I was used to coming from Cimatron.

Then someone posted the color scheme that sorta matched Catia and I used that for a while.

Eventually I just started using the default colors.  In fact, I don't make very many changes to the defaults anymore in the MC config.
I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

Black background gang, checking in. In my CAD days, I ran with a gradient background, but for CAM there are a lot more wireframes/single pixel wide lines to deal with for toolpaths. I'd find it hard to step away from the high contrast style for MasterCam.

gcode

I'm running a nearly black horizontal gradient
Gradient Start is color # 0
Gradient End   is color #155

On the option page of Customize the Tool Bar
 Theme is Dark Grey
 Accent Color is Dark Grey

I've found this dark setup is the best choice to avoid eye strain after a long day of 'gramming

I had used several different gradient colors after the ability to change was added...

When they changed to the now default blue/gray gradient it was already so close to what I was using I just stayed with the default since.

Mine is black. Since the V8 days when it was black I just stuck with it thru the years.
I have 10's of thousands of files and if I were to change the background to a different color I'd get errors.
Fuck that I'm sticking with black lol.

Dark grey background #255
Dark grey theme
Dark grey managers

First couple years I used default. After the longer 11-12 hour days programming I started getting headaches. Changed everything I use to dark theme and haven't had that issue since.

Dark theme everywhere I can, Home and Work.
Windows, Browser, Outlook, Mastercam, Camplete.
I'm old, bright colors make my eyes sink into the back of my head.... :o

I had both lenses replaced in my eyes with the onset of Cataracts.
Amazing how much easier it is to stare at a screen all day. 8)
(Staring at a screen all day for 35 years probably caused it)

I have been running all my monitors on nightlight mode 24/7 @ ~55% for years, biggest single change that positively impacted my eye comfort. I'm not a video colourist, so the extra red doesn't bother me. Since I've been staring at monitors since I was 4 or so, makes a big difference... When windows bugs out and turns it off, though, it's like getting blasted by a retinal tanning bed.

I forgot about night light. I run at 40%, work and home.

I know the "retinal tanning bed" all too well

It's a neat mini-exercise in how light is definitely a particle, feeling the pressure it exerts on the eyeballular region.

When no light, monitor brightness has to be reduced, but the screen clarity is far greater and was always better on my eyes.
#MushroomManagement Darkness, FTW.
Fed on BS too....

All monitors or TVs are designed to be used in essentially complete darkness, so you're doing it right. Calibration isn't even possible in a lit room. Exceptions being industrial displays like our machine controls, and POS systems.

And that's no BS! BTW, are you growing magic mushrooms?

I'm color blind amd it's a real bitch!

A black/dark background is the only background that gives me enough contrast to see what I need to see. I've tried the default even in my CAD (Inventor)... nope black there too.
