I'm not sure that the internet has done us any favors when it comes to being informed. It's probably done more harm than good.  Everything has become a headline or a meme and unless we are reading something that already reinforces our opinion we move on to something that does. And that's if we have the attention span left to read an entire article anymore.

We've always had the choice to believe what we wanted. We just didn't rely on the opinion of the writer to make the decisions for us. I'm not sure when the NY Times went from journalism to what it is today.

I'll go back to being a conservative, when conservatives go back to being conservative.

It has given us the ability (for those that seek it) to watch full context videos and such. Not condensed opinions and quotes taken out of context.

That's true, and I think that's great. But it also gave us an avenue to feed our confirmation bias and the information we're taking in isn't always accurate.

There is no question that it *can* be a great place to find information.

Guess that would cause Real news. ::)

strongly disagree with this post. Not because I don't want the truth. I do. I just don't trust any commission formed by the government to tell me what the truth is. I'd rather take my chances with the lies.

Personally, I find the Interwebz easier to get to than running down to the Library of Congress, National Archives or Cornell Law School Library every few days... but that's just me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you know the point I'm trying to make.  Of course it's easier to get to information. Not all of the information we chose to absorb is accurate. Some people more than others.  Hence the "more harm than good".

The problem is.

Some people Believe everything they read.

You have to question yourself before others.

Then question the others.

When I saw The Trump assassination attempt on here , I then went and checked the news.

On every channel. :)

You also don't want sources who wont report something because they're afraid of being sued. It's a double edged sward.

I would go out on a limb and say as long as it's provable that they intentionally mislead, fine them?  :D
