I have a picture of my EOD SIL sitting on the ground looking hot and tired, leaning against a vehicle tire and drinking a bottle of water. There is a dog laying across his leg, lol.

...or a drone operator.

My nephew who served in both the Army and Navy ended up flying Navy drones because of his bad-ass gaming skills he honed when he was a kid.

Then he eventually moved into the field of analyzing data collected from drones for the purpose of assessing battle damage and enemy strength, and again, his time playing strategic video games was helpful to him as a data analyst.

Yes, I get that watching skilled video game players do their thing is similar to watching skilled athletes play their sport. I guess that what bothers me in the case of my grandkids is that I think they would do that every day, all day long if we let them.  They get so immersed in it that I swear the house could be on fire and they wouldn't even notice.

The only time I ever watch sports for more than one game in a single day would probably be during the NCAA men's basketball tournament, or occasionally when our AHL and NHL Penguins have a hockey game on the same day. Other than that, after a few hours I have had enough of watching tv and want to move on to doing something else.

I never played all day every day, but during the early days I played alot.
There was no CAD or CAM and I played games too much.
This was during the DOS days and I learned a lot about computers, building them and tuning them to get the early games to function.
Then I started buying CAD packages. I once bought an early solids package that cost $200 back when $400 was a good week's take home pay. My wife thought I'd lost my mind.

I don't play at all now.. It's been a decade or longer since I have even had a game installed on any of my PC's

Programing is pretty much a real life video game that pays money. ;)

Games make me motion sick now.  I'd probably play some if the motion didn't get to me so much.

Back when I was single and worked third shift I'd come home at 7am and start playing Xbox, I'd play until 4 or 5 that evening then take a couple hour nap and go back to work. After a few months of that and dozing off at the wheel a few times I realized I was addicted and gave the system away. Haven't played a video game since. My blood pressure prefers it as well, I'd get so tense playing games like Halo that my heart would race for hours.

Bucky Cornstarch

I stopped playing video games when they started having color graphics.

Asteroids FTW...

Also simplicity FTW!
