My standard answer to ridiculous quoting questions is 10,000 hours or 1 million dollars.

I can't even depend on my bosses to order the correct amount of material, especially if it is something expensive like Inco or Ti. You'd think that simple math would not be an issue in a machine shop.
Heck I am looking at a job that required 4-1/2 square stock and the idgit ordered ... yup, you guessed it Ø4.5  :huh:. Needless to say that job is going to be late.

I always love that excuse.
Customers send prints that were literally drawn the previous week,but say no model avail when you can clearly see the model on the print.
Sometimes they use that excuse for when they don't want to take the 20 seconds to fire off an email requesting a cad file.

and as far as guessing goes, there's literally a team of guessers and a team of engineers backing them up , no team here just an uneducated 10th grade drop out programmer.
Even when I am required to make a quote I am way closer then the other guessers and when I don't make their quote times I get called to the carpet and asked what "we " can do to remedy the losses ?

Hey you're preaching to the choir here lol. It happens so often from a couple of our customers it's not funny.
There is a certain robotics company, well known, starts with A__ and they will NOT send a cad file, period.

That's one of the nice things about making our own parts. If I need a model, print or assembly model I just pop up Printroom and get what I need.
