Yeah it seems they kept the lid pretty tight on the sexual assault case.
The accusation against the organization is that they covered it up.

I think there is a fine line between an organization trying to avoid negative publicity and actually covering up criminal activity.

My understanding is that the assistant coach in question participated in the Stanley Cup celebration with the team a month after the sexual assault allegation was made by the victim.

That doesn't look good on its face, but does that constitute a coverup?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

There was no word of the sexual assault case on WSCR on both the ride home and coming in this morning. I was really surprised about the morning show due to the morning guy matter of fact attitude and the number of callers he gets. Not one caller mentioned the case. That makes me wonder if the local news media even covered it. Both shows covered Jon Gruden.

You would think since the GM and Senior VP of the city's NHL franchise resigned because of the sexual assault case, that would be the talk of the town, especially in the Chicago sports media.

Maybe they were specifically asked NOT to discuss it? :oldforumheadscratch:

Well the Hawks finally canned Jeremy Colliton and brought in their AHL guy, Derek King.
Good decision so far because they seem to be playing much better, beating Nashville and Pittsburgh in their first two games with the new coach.

Fleury definitely redeemed himself after being hammered by the Pens the first time they met.
When the 2nd game went to the shootout, I didn't think the Pens had much of a chance.

Fleury knows most of the Pens' shooters from practicing with them, so he knows all of their best moves.
Toews and DeBrincat both undressed Jarry with great moves, so that was that.  :w00t:

Pens spanked the Habs last night, 6-0.
OK the Habs have quite a few injuries, but it was still nice to see the Pens play a whole consistent 60 minute game.

Sidney Crosby scored his first goal of the season after being sidelined by wrist surgery and COVID, so that was good to see too.
Malkin should be back any time soon as well.

They are currently in 7th place out of 8 teams in their division, so they have a loooooooong way to go to even have a shot at making the playoffs.
But I'm still a Pens fan through thick and thin, so LET'S GO PENS!!  :cheer:

The NHL is doing OK with COVID, but the AHL is getting hammered.

Our AHL Penguins affiliate has postponed 3 games so far due to an outbreak that seems to be affecting at least 6-7 teams.
I can't find any data on AHL vaccination numbers, but I know there are only 4 unvaccinated players at the NHL level in the whole league, so I think we can safely assume the vast majority of AHL players are also vaccinated.

My Wild are looking awfully good this year.  They've got a ton of depth and are getting scoring from every line.  Having a guy like Kaprizov makes teams focus more on him and the rest of the team gets more chances because of it.

Yeah I have only seen them once or twice so far this season, but they do look good.
Bill Guerin seems to be pushing the right buttons at the right time, and Dean Evason has them clicking right now, so now you just have to hope everyone stays healthy for a playoff run.

#1 in the league as of this morning.  Not sure I've ever seen them at the top of the overall standings.  Fiala had been snakebit and couldn't get the puck in the night for the last 7 or 8 games, finally had one go in last night, hopefully that opens the floodgates for him.

Pens are back on a winning streak now @ 5 in a row.
This season has been a rollercoaster ride for sure.

I think Crosby is now back to full speed after being off with his wrist surgery.
He's not scoring many goals, but he is racking up the assists.

Malkin is practicing (non-contact), and Guentzel and Rust are both day-to-day.
Sad part is they will just get everyone back healthy, then the league has to take the Olympic break.
Oh well...it will be interesting.

I'm guessing they're not going to the olympics and will try to throw a few rescheduled games in that break.

I know they were talking about not sending the NHL players to the Olympics because of the latest COVID outbreak, but I didn't hear if that decision was definite, or still just a rumor.
I suppose they will need to finalize the decision soon enough to allow the Olympic teams to replace the NHL players on their rosters.

Bettman said it's entirely up to the players, and I think they have until January 10th to decide without financial impact

Oh ok...thanks.
I thought the league had to sanction it, but if they are leaving it up to the players I am guessing the majority will probably go.
