Cimco DNC-Max

Are you trying to use a search function within the DNC Max client for a file, or is this a search from a PC based NC controller?

I'm on a desktop PC in the DNC-Max client in the split window dialog. For the DNC we currently don't do anything from the machine side, everything is from a shop floor PC. Not sure if we even can do anything on the machine side, I don't know enough about the system.

I also just heard back from my reseller (Steve Biehl @ Cimquest) he said he's going to ask Cimco about the search function.

The reason I ask, is that (and it may be me being confused), but there isn't a search function as such in the DNC Max client, only the ability to browse folders. There is a search function in NCBase (which links to DNC MAx). However, you have Steve Biehl on the case, and he is a guru, so you're well covered

You're right there isn't an actual "search bar", but when I start typing into the file name field it tries to autocomplete the filename (like when you start typing into the google search bar and a list of suggestions comes up). This makes it feel like if I click one of the "autocomplete filenames" it should select it for transfer.

Ah, I havent noticed the autocomplete thing. To be honest, I normally use either a scanner, or choose the file manually.

Just heard back from Steve:

I've pushed this to Cimco a couple times. Pinged them this morning and they've agreed it's an issue. They seem to think it worked better in an earlier version and they are trying to figure out why that interaction with the dialog box has changed.

I'll let you know when I get something from them.

Side note, was doing some post editing yesterday, went to the revision log at the top, and saw that on 8/23/2006 the post was modified by Stephen Biehl @ S4A. Was funny for his name to pop up somewhere else.

That was almost a year to the year that I I started with them...I started there on 09/05/07

Just got another update from Steven Biehl:

It looks like the point release late yesterday 'fixed' the filename field in the split window send dialog. I don't have a barcode reader to test entry that way, but if I start typing a filename and select it in the popup list it gives me, it is selected and sent. Hopefully it will work with barcode entered data also.
