Joel Klatt breaks down the playoff selections and how Oregon is getting screwed because of their path to win.

Looks liek we're playing Texas A&M.

Could be a long day if we don't get our stuff together. :O

Tennessee's new uniforms for the suckeye game  (that would be epic)

Wife works near ND. She said there is already a mile long line of cars to get into the tailgating parking lots.

Current weather conditions...

I have no dog in this hunt. Frankly, I wish both teams could lose. But I gotta admit, this would be an EPIC tailgating day.

My SiL is a USMC recruiter at IU. His boss asked him if he wanted to man the USMC tent they will set up at ND today, since he'd be at our house only 30 minutes from ND.

SiL was like, no thanks.

I was like, why the hell not? It's gonna be cool as hell.

He was like, not sober, standing in mid 20° temps, in dress blues.

Fair point.

See, this is what happens when you have teams that make the playoffs with Zero strength of schedule.  Penn is Wiping the floor with SMU.  I feel that we're gonna have several games that are Absolute blowouts.

There's bowl games like that every year.
You're just trying to justify why Bama should be in the playoffs lol.

I feel like this is more than a typ bowl game, it's the playoffs...  Not necessarily Alabama, there's plenty of teams spread around, esp in the SEC.

Jeff

If they would have kept it to 8 teams there would be better games, but you're still going to get blowouts.
And from all of the Seminole tears and the dollar signs the higher ups saw last year, they expanded it to 12.
SMU had every right to be there by being 11-2 and winning the ACC even though that's a weaker conference.

But money overrules common sense, which is why they will most likely expand it to 14 or more soon.

Rstewart

Yeah, I believe the 12 is too much.  At 14, it's obviously just about $$

Well, changes will need to be made. With all due respect, Arizona State and Boise State didn't warrant being in the top 4. A team like Oregon (unbeaten and clearly the top ranked team) plays Ohio State? Is that fair? Whereas 'lesser teams' (still very good, just not up there with Oregon...no team is) play Boise State and Arizona State? No knock on those two teams but Ohio State is a superior team. Oregon got screwed.

(Congrats Penn State...)

Fair to who? Oregon?
With a 1st round bye, that's the only way it could have panned out, otherwise Oregon would have played Clemson.
Not sure I like the 1st round bye rule, but that's what we got for now and if they keep 12 teams or even expand the 1st round bye will need to stay to avoid the #1 team getting injured to a #12 or #14 inferior team ruining their run.

Essentially nobody outside of the Gig 10, Big 12, or the SEC has any sort of Strength of Schedule then.

Oregon 'should have' been matched up with Boise State or Arizona State. They are the #1 ranked team. Shouldn't be playing OSU until the semis at least. Or do you think BSU or ASU would be harder opponents than Ohio State?

It's how it lined up this year. Needs tweaking for next season. Forget one team from 4 of the 5 power conferences (and the Mountain West is now a power conf. now that the PAC 12 is basically non-existent). The top 4 teams should get byes, regardless what conf. Oregon got a raw deal. They're playing one of the top 5 teams in the country for their 1st CFP game.
