I think it's more of a hate for what the band represents. And that is the fact that a mediocre band can play mediocre music and still become the most popular band on the charts. Yet an amazing band that plays amazing music can get snubbed.

There is a guy on YouTube who analyzes songs. He never mentions the Beatles or the Eagles. They are known to be very strict about copyright stuff.
David Letterman was mad at CBS one time so he kept talking about the Eagles or playing their music or something. It was costing the network thousands of dollars each time.

I've seen the videos of guitarists playing music with their fingers flying so fast you can't see them but after a minute or so I've heard enough. I can appreciate they are highly skilled guitarists but I doubt they'll ever make coin like David Gilmour.

I *sorta* agree with you?  You've seen the music I listen to. I listen to plenty of what would be considered shit music.  Having spent a lot of time around musicians (I have a lot of friends who have made their living playing) I know what good music is. 

I don't think that it's other bands who are critical so I don't think it's jealousy.  This is coming from fans of other music.  We might call those people music snobs?   

I do feel like it sucks for bands who really put effort in to their music and it never goes anywhere because people have horrible taste in music.  So on that front, I do get it?
